Conditions of entry:
1.Haiku must be previously unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
2.Entry fee is NZ$5 for every 3 haiku; for overseas entries, US$1 per haiku.
3.Send two copies of each haiku, or group of haiku, with your name and address on one copy only.
4.Winning haiku and commended entries will be published in Kokako 8 (April, 2008).
5.Winners will be notified by mail.
6.Any theme is acceptable.

We inform you we organize The First Haiku Congress in Romania, with the international participation, in Constanta from June 1st to June 5th 2007: HAIKU ï ½ BRIDGE BETWEEN ORIENTAL AND OCCIDENTAL CULTURES. It is intended to be a celebration on the 15th anniversary of the Haiku Society of Constantza. We will be honoured to have you as participants. There will be organized trips to museums and monasteries in Dobrogea (4th-5th June). The schedule of activities will consist of 3 days with conferences and debates on the following sections:
- haiku in education;
- haiku and the fine arts;
- renku -literary workshop;
- public debate on haiku poetry and related genres.
There will also be books and reviews in Haiku Collection and artistic products by pupils and their teachers, haiga exhibition, haiku poets. If you have some suggestions, we are open to any of them.
If you like to participate, please let us know until the 1st May 2007. If you want to deliver a paper conference, please send it or the summary of it until the 15st of May 2007. The conferences will be at Park Hotel in Mamaia, ï ½Constantin Bratescuï ½ High School in Constantza, a Public Library ï ½I.N.Romanï ½ at the Cultural Departement and the Natural Sciences Museum complex. For accomodation we offer at PARC HOTEL***, IN MAMAIA: SINGLE 26 EURO A DAY BY PERSON+ 3 EURO, STATIONARY TAXE; TWO BEDS 36 EURO (A PERSON IS 18 EURO)+ 4 EURO STATIONARY TAXE ; LUNCH AND DINNER IS 22 EURO A DAY; BREAKFAST IS INCLUDED. Another offert is in MAMAIA too, but on a beach of Sutghiol lake aproximatively 1-1/2 km far from Parc hotel. It is about SAGUNA HOTEL* WITH WARM AND COLD WATER ALL DAY, BUT NO BATHROOM IN THE SAME ROOM. There is a shower in the hall for two persons. There are rooms: single 10 euro;/12 dollars, double 18 dollars per person only 9/ 14 euro and 7 per person; room with three beds 18 euro and 6 per person/24 dollars and 8 dollars per person. Va informam ca desfasuram Primul Congres de Haiku din Rominia, cu participare internationala, la Constanta intre 1-5 iunie, cu titlul: HAIKU ï ½ PUNTE INTRE CULTURA ORIENTALA SI CEA OCCIDENTALA, eveniment organizat si cu ocazia implinirii a 15 ani, de la fondarea Societatii de Haiku din Constanta, la 18 ianuarie 1992.
Am fi foarte onorati sa va avem printre participanti. Calendarul activitatilor cuprinde: conferinte, comunicari si dezbateri, pe sectiuni (1-3 iunie):
- haiku in educatie;
- haiku si artele;
- renku ï ½ atelier de creatie;
- dezbatere ï ½ consideratii teoretice despre lirica japoneza;
- excursii, la muzee si minastiri din Dobrogea (4-5 iunie);
Vor fi prezentari, lansari si expozitii de carti din Colectia Haiku, recital din creatii ale elevilor si ale autorilor romani si straini. Suntem deschisi oricarei sugestii. Limba congresului va fi engleza.
Daca doriti sa participati, va rugam sa ne anuntati pina pe data de 1mai 2007, iar daca veti sustine o conferinta trimiteti rezumatul, pina pe 15 mai 2007. Va oferim doua posibilitati de cazare (la Colegiul Pedagogic ï ½Constantin Bratescuï ½ nu este posibil, doar la Liceul Sportiv-Sc.34, cu 40 de lei, cazare si masa pe zi); la PARC HOTEL***, MAMAIA: single 25 euro/ 2 paturi 36 euro, 18 de persoana; in pret este inclus mic dejun; prinz si cina 22 euro pe zi. I came across your email address as I am looking to contact people with a passion and interest for haiku, Japanese culture and arts. We are in the process of completing a short Japanese haiku film staring the renowned actor Yoshi Oida and we are eager to gather support for the film from individuals, businesses and organisations.
I am currently assisting a Producer at an independent production company called Stampede on a short Japanese film, 'From Basho'. The short film is based on Matsuo Basho, a legendary Japanese haiku poet, who I am sure you are familiar with and one of his thought-provoking tales. The film was shot in the Scottish highlands (to keep within our budget, whilst still greatly resembling eighteenth century rural Japan ) in 2days and was largely financed by the talented writer/director, Babak Gray.

The film has already received much interest from independent cinemas, a Japanese Broadcaster and airline - all who are keen to view our completed film with an interest to screen.
We are now at the stage of seeking completion funds for the film, as funding for editing and processing of the final film for screening still needs to be gathered. We are approaching various businesses and organisations for support, starting from $25 contributions and in return, we can offer a DVD of the completed film to show our huge appreciation. We are even offering a film credit for individuals/organisations in the form of "this film was made possible with the kind support of..." or Associate Producer credits, which can be used to promote your business, organisation or group.
