RUN TO THE HIIIIIILLS!!

I was watching some metal chart yesterday and I have seen some old videos that used to make me tick. When you see Bruce Dickinson in tight pants in some weird illuminant color, you just cannot be indifferent. The video of the „Trooper“ was probaby very well made at that time (half of it is on a battle field and half of it is Iron Maiden's live concert), now it is just a very okay trash video. I think that if you are a fan of Iron Maiden once, that never changes. If you liked them once, you will like them forever, and it is not connected with age or any other factor that surround us. Also, no one is embarrassed to say that he's an Iron Maiden fan, but one could be embarrassed about being Guns n' Roses fan. I was though, but it was a part of growing up. About that; few weeks ago, I was watching the show „Zvijezde extra“ with Renata Sopek and the theme was surgery, bottox, hair and boob implants and all that. Then I saw how Axl Rose looks like nowdays. That was a scary sight to see!! He made some operation and his eyes look wide (tooooo wide) open at all times, he is somehow ironed and shiny and he has some rasta hair, very sad!!
At the age of 13 I was into Gn'R and then started with Metallica. I was a fan but never too big fan. They are a respectable band but I did not like their music that much after the Black Album and I totally lost every interest in them after that Napster situation. I progressed with time...I remember asking my bearded friend: „Dane, what is SLAYER?“ (Dane, a kaj je to Slajer?) He had, and still has, an older brother who went to high school (when we were still in primary) who was into some serious music, so Dane was educated. Luckily for me I was then introduced to some great music like NoMeansNo and Fugazi, and I am still their fan. And then Bodycount came...and so did high school. Through highschool I was into some serious death/black/doom metal but always flirting with thrash/hard core bands like Pantera, Down, Biohazard, Sick of it All, Ignite and one of my absolute favorites Suicidal Tendencies. Later I was into those fashion bands like Type 0 Negative, Korn etc. At the age of 20 I was more into punk and ska and I still am. Anyway, I am happy that I grew up listening to that kind of music, I think that kids that are into it, educate themselves more. If you are into hit music or much much worse, there is not much to be educated about. There are no lyrics to read. Actually, it is not because all that music is lame, it's about the profile of the people: I do not think they are interested in lyrics or bands' info.
However, from all of those bands from my juvy days, I think I respect Iron Maiden the most. People lose the radical shade over the years and only the strong bands survive. Liking music is not about fashion and people around you anymore, it is only about taste and emo.

What was your favorite band in high school?
