Još jedno krasno izdanje na Sceni. Riječ je ovog puta o skoro nepoznatoj krinminalističkoj drami "Tsotsi" (nagrađena Oscarom). Film je sniman u Britanskoj i Južnoafričkoj koprodukciji, a priča je vrlo intrigantna. Kako radnja govori, film sliči još jednom južnoafričkom filmu "City of God" : 6 dana u prkosnom životu mladog vođe bande u Johannessburgu. Ja sam osobno gledao City of God prije par godina, i mogu reći da sam bio poprilično šokiran radnjom tog filma, pogotovo zbog razloga da je film snimljen prema istinitom događaju. Tsotsi bi takodjer mogao probuditi neke čudne osjećaje u vama, pa ga preporučam samo onima koji žele znati kako je svijet okrutan u ostalim kutevima naše Zemlje...
Ukratko:
The flim centres on the life of a young Johannesburg small time gang leader named Tsotsi – a colloquial term roughly meaning “thug” in Tsotsitaal “thug lingo”, the township penatois in which the movie is filmed. As a child he ran away from home due to an abusive father and sick mother and has grown up in the slums of Soweto. Tsotsi is set on the road to redemption when he hijacks a car one night, only to later find a baby on the back seat. He makes the decision to care for the baby himself, causing his gangster exterior to slowly fade away as he learns about empathy and compassion.
