Still
A heart darkened with pain
it cries,
deep into the night all alone
cold and bare
a child without care
no shame or remorse
no love,
none to give or to take
into two watch him break
crumbling into dust
becoming one with the earth.
No-one notices the change,
only a quietness remains
the sun still rises every day
rivers still flow to the sea,
people blind, still turn away
in the night you hear them pray
for a change in their daily life
to be freed from trouble and strife
to wake up and be happy
to walk the earth with dignity
to live a life contented
