As long as you derive inner help and comfort from anything, keep it.
I have never been especially impressed by the heroics of people who are convinced they are about to change the world. I am more awed by those who struggle to make one small difference after another.
Whatever you do, do it to the purpose; do it thoroughly, not superficially. Go to the bottom of things. Any thing half done, or half known, is in my mind, neither done nor known at all. Nay, worse, for it often misleads.
Even the fear of death is nothing compared to the fear of not having lived authentically and fully.
You know what's interesting about Washington? It's the kind of place where second-guessing has become second nature.
Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.
The function of science fiction is not always to predict the future but sometimes to prevent it.
