HIP-HOP WORKSHOP – ŽELJKO BOŽIĆ (Kazina, Slovenija)

Željko Božić started as a latin american and ballroom dancer. His mentor was Fredi Novak, the coach of former amateur world champions and now one of the best professional couple Andrej Škufca and Katarina Venturini. He continued under the leadership of Šana and Marko Vodnik and became a member of national team for several years. He and his then dance partner Kristina Pahor were contributing in achieving first major win for young Slovenian team on German Open competition in 1992. After seven years started also with jazz balet. Been a member of Kazina jazz balet formation and under choreographer Mojca Uršic won three silver medals and two gold on IDO world and european championships. Last eleven years he has found himself in hip hop dance. In Slovenia known for his commercial projects and competitions. He was back dancer and choreographer for almost all popular music groups and singers (Rebeka Dremelj, Pika Božić, Game Over, Bepop, Unique, Domen Kumer, Anja Rupel, Power Dancers, Sebastian, Nuša Derenda, Manja and Erik, BBT, 4 Play, Sound Attack, Slo Active) and official choreographer for Popstars 2002, he also choreographed for Popstars tour 2002 and 2003. He has danced almost in every television show in the country. Competitions wise, he is the dancer and choreographer of dance group Kazina, eight times national adults champions. For few years his style and choreographies (known for unique ideas and putting the story behind – Drunks, Adam and Eve, Jerry Springer Show, Top Shop, Nerds) have been leaving mark also on World championships (4 gold medals, 6 silver, two times european champions), organized by IDO. He’s also won the duo title with Jernej Šerjak. Besides workshops in Slovenia, he has been teaching also in Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland, Switzerland and Germany. Two years ago he and his partner Azra Selimanović introduced their own brand of clothes called AllThat (lifestyle and dance collection) and this year organized very successful seven days workshop AllThat summer dance camp. Being a member of Kazina show group he has done numerous performances on events, television shows and casinos. Last two year he has choreographed and directed two casino shows (Seek and You Shall Find and Something New, Something Old and Something Borrowed). Recently Goran Bogdanovski, well known Slovenian dancer and choreographer invited Željko to dance in contemporary dance production Sun City. This production was chosen for this years Gibanica, biggest Slovenian dance festival. This year he also co-choreographed new show for German and London based production house Star Entertainment, premiering in Berlin. Vrijeme: 20. i 21.10.2007.
