TECHNO:
Techno is a form of electronic dance music that became prominent in Detroit, Michigan during the mid-1980s with influences from Chicago House, electro, New Wave, Funk and futuristic fiction themes that were prevalent and relative to modern culture during the end of the Cold War in industrial America at that time. Following the initial success of Detroit Techno as a musical culture — at the very least on a regional level — an expanded and related subset of genres in the 1990s emerged globally.
The term "techno", which derives from "technology", is often misused to refer to all forms of electronic dance music. Music journalists and fans of the genre, however, are generally more selective in their use of the term, being careful not to conflate it with related but distinct genres (i.e. house, trance), or with one of techno's many subgenres like Hardcore Techno.
DRUM AND BASS:
Drum and bass (commonly abbreviated to DnB or drum n bass) is a type of electronic dance music also known as jungle. Emerging in the early 1990s, the genre is characterised by fast tempo broken beat drums (generally between 160 & 180 beats per minute) with heavy, often intricate basslines. Today, drum and bass is still considered an underground musical style, but its currents of influence run throughout popular music and culture.
Drum and bass began as an offshoot of the United Kingdom breakbeat hardcore and rave scene of the late 1980s; and over the first decade of its existence there have been many permutations in its style, incorporating elements from dancehall, electro, funk, hiphop, house, jazz, metal, pop, reggae, rock, techno and trance.
HOUSE:
House music is a style of electronic dance music. The earliest forms of the genre originated in Chicago (United States) in the early to mid-1980s.
TRANCE:
Trance is a style of electronic dance music or slow ambient music that developed in the 1990s. Dance trance music is generally characterized by a tempo of between 124 and 148 bpm, featuring repeating melodic synthesizer phrases, and a musical form that builds up and down throughout a track, often crescendoing or featuring a breakdown. Sometimes vocals are also utilized. The style is arguably derived from a combination of largely electronic music and house. 'Trance' received its name from the repetitious morphing beats, and the throbbing melodies which would presumably put the listener into a trance-like state. As this music is almost always played in nightclubs at popular vacation spots and in inner cities, trance can be understood as a form of club music.
Jedan od najpoštovanijih techno DJ-a uopće. Svoju karijeru, kao i mnoge današnje DJ-megazvijezda, započeo kao hip-hop DJ sredinom osamdesetih… Dave Clarke - naopaki bass-drum Dave je jedan od najpoštovanijih techno DJ-a devedesetih. Svoju je karijeru, kao i mnogi današnjih DJ-i, započeo kao hip-hop DJ sredinom 80tih puštajući po renomiranim engleskim klubovima. Pojavom acid zvuka prelazi na acid-house, a kasnije na malo brži rave. Pod aliasom Pig City producira za Stress u ranim devedesetima, a pojavljuje se na R&S Rec. i XL Records (za XL rade i Prodigy). Kada je osnovao svoju etiketu, Magnetic North Records, prelazi s tada već zastarjelog ravea na techno. Serija od tri singla imena Red, osiguravaju mu slavu tijekom 95. i 96. godine. Ulaze u 'Top 40' britanske top-ljestvice. Publika ga zamjećuje izlaskom Reda 1. Red 2 mu osigurava mjesto na vrhu, a Red 3 ga dodatno učvršćuje na poziciji najboljeg techno DJ-a i producenta u Engleskoj. Prvo veliko izdanje bila je kompilacija producentskih radova s Magnetic North Rec., izdana za 'Deconstruction', pod imenom Demagnitized. Na njemu gostuju najpoznatiji neengleski techno DJ-a poput DJ Hella, Christiana Vogela... Svi kritičari na Engleskoj techno i electro sceni skidaju mu kapu 1996, kada na 'Deconstruction' etiketi izdaje svoj prvi album, 'Archive One'. Isti je nešto više od nabijajućih techno stvari. Radi se o raznolikom albumu koji se sluša od početka do kraja i koji želite slušati ujutro, popodne i navečer prije spavanja. Njegov prepoznatljivi stil, udarac bass drum-a okrenut naopačke. Prepoznajte ga u stvarima 'Protective Custody' i 'Tale Of Two Cities'. No daleko najbolje i najinovativnije kombiniranje hip-hopa i techna možete čuti u 'No One's Driving', stvari koja je i Chemical Beats od Chemical Brothersa pokopala na mjestu. Da, Dave 'kuži posao'. Ako ste mislili da je to kraj dobrih stvari na Archive One albumu, debeli zajeb. Dokaz njegove inovativnosti evidentan je u The Woki, stvari sa jednim od najjačih basslineova ukombiniranim sa sampleom krda bijesnih slonova, (izdistorziranih do krajnjih granica, naravno :-)), bolesnom i poludepresivnom ratnom melodijom i finim preciznim scratchanjem. Velika većina smatra ga techno DJ-em, no njegov album dokazuje suprotno. Uz već spomenute mješavine, Dave zna raditi i tech house, trip-hop i electro stvari. Najbolji primjer njegove svestranosti je miksani CD izdan za X-Mix serijal poznate njemačke etikete K7!, Electro Boogie, jedan od najboljih electro mikseva ikad izdanih, i mogu vam ga, kao i Archive One album, preporučiti 'od srca' :-) Red 1, 2 i 3, Archive One, Electro Boogie i kasnije izdan Electro Boogie 2 su zvjezdice na ramenu generala britanskog techno pokreta, Dave Clarka.
