TECHNO:
Techno is a form of electronic dance music that became prominent in Detroit, Michigan during the mid-1980s with influences from Chicago House, electro, New Wave, Funk and futuristic fiction themes that were prevalent and relative to modern culture during the end of the Cold War in industrial America at that time. Following the initial success of Detroit Techno as a musical culture — at the very least on a regional level — an expanded and related subset of genres in the 1990s emerged globally.
The term "techno", which derives from "technology", is often misused to refer to all forms of electronic dance music. Music journalists and fans of the genre, however, are generally more selective in their use of the term, being careful not to conflate it with related but distinct genres (i.e. house, trance), or with one of techno's many subgenres like Hardcore Techno.
DRUM AND BASS:
Drum and bass (commonly abbreviated to DnB or drum n bass) is a type of electronic dance music also known as jungle. Emerging in the early 1990s, the genre is characterised by fast tempo broken beat drums (generally between 160 & 180 beats per minute) with heavy, often intricate basslines. Today, drum and bass is still considered an underground musical style, but its currents of influence run throughout popular music and culture.
Drum and bass began as an offshoot of the United Kingdom breakbeat hardcore and rave scene of the late 1980s; and over the first decade of its existence there have been many permutations in its style, incorporating elements from dancehall, electro, funk, hiphop, house, jazz, metal, pop, reggae, rock, techno and trance.
HOUSE:
House music is a style of electronic dance music. The earliest forms of the genre originated in Chicago (United States) in the early to mid-1980s.
TRANCE:
Trance is a style of electronic dance music or slow ambient music that developed in the 1990s. Dance trance music is generally characterized by a tempo of between 124 and 148 bpm, featuring repeating melodic synthesizer phrases, and a musical form that builds up and down throughout a track, often crescendoing or featuring a breakdown. Sometimes vocals are also utilized. The style is arguably derived from a combination of largely electronic music and house. 'Trance' received its name from the repetitious morphing beats, and the throbbing melodies which would presumably put the listener into a trance-like state. As this music is almost always played in nightclubs at popular vacation spots and in inner cities, trance can be understood as a form of club music.
Što reai o najboljem slovenskom DJ-u? Ono malo podataka što se može naci, samo su rijeci hvale, bilo iz recenzija njegovih ploea do komentara njegovih setova Kako god bilo, Umek je u strelovitom usponu svoje karijere, pogotovo nakon 2000. godine kada je nastupao širom Amerike, Australije i Azije rame uz rame sa najpoznatijim svjetskim DJ-ima, a o njegovim radovima da i ne govorimo – vrte se po najpoznatijim klubovima Europe i Amerike. O njemu ae se još puno, puno čuti. No, krenimo redom. Uroš Umek rođen je 1976. u Ljubljani. Vea kao teenager volio je dance glazbu, no bilo mu ju je prilićno teško za nabaviti u bivšoj Jugoslaviji, kako se požalio u jednom interviewu. Poeetkom 90-tih, kad je Slovenija postala slobodna, i politieki, i kulturološki, (i kad je Umek malo narastao), poeeo je organizirati partyje i baviti se DJ-anjem. Naravno, prvo je to sve bilo totalno underground, no vrlo brzo su Slovenci prihvatili “novu” glazbu i scena se proširila. Umek je bio resident DJ na veaini partyja tijekom tih prvih godina, tako da se može reai da je zaista imao veliki utjecaj na slovensku techno scenu. Krajem 90-tih poeeo se baviti produkcijom techna. Zašto baš techna? Njegov je odgovor jednostavan – iako je slušao acid house, radio je techno jer mu je to njegova tadašnja oprema dozvoljavala. Smatrao je da na njoj ne može napraviti kvalitetan house. A da mu je produkcija techna dobro išla govori i poveai popis etiketa za koje je izdavao - ZET, Absence, XS, Missile, Expire, Planet Rhythm, Comunique, Potential, Spiel-Zeug, Black nation, Primate (i sa Liebingom), Tortured Records (pod imenom Mumps)… i, naravno, za svoje dvije etikete – Consumer Recreation i Recycled Loops. Odliean izlet u electro vode napravio je 2000. pod imenom Zeta Reticula za Billy Nastyev Electrix, a posljednje informacije nam govore da osniva novu tech house etiketu sa Valentinom Kanzyanijem - Earresistable. Opaenito, Umek se u zadnje vrijeme, produkcijski i kao DJ, kreae prema sve lakšem soundu, melodienijem, tribalistienijem, funky technu i tech-houseu, ali još ae dugo ostati poznat po svojim hard techno stvarima tipa Lanicor, a koje nose nazive Krkinih lijekova – Rupurut, Levcine, Katapresan, Betrion… Eak ni tribalistieni Voices of Africa koji je izdao za Primate nije doživio takvu popularnost kao Lanicor. Umek se trenutno može bookirati preko Billy Nastyjeve agencije Theremin, a uskoro ae i izdati mixani CD za Nastyjev Tortured Records. Od nedavno, Umek radi na eetiri gramofona, što se zaista ne može eesto vidjeti i euti. Mislim da niste trebali sve ovo proeitati da biste znali da se Umek ne propušta.
