Crucial Youth

1986 - 1990

The sound of America's hardcore youth on the move-straight, alert and ready to make tomorrow a better place today, with a message more powerful than Mr T. and two or three times as positive. Don't get them wrong, they put sweatpants on one leg at a time just like any other normal fun-loving kids, but when they see negative fools with a bad attitude ruining someones scene, theres no telling what Crucial Youth will do. Being straight was more to them than refraining from alcohol and drugs, it meant being aware at all times and extending your positive attitude to everything you do. What really ticked Crucial Youth off wasnt so much the burnouts and rejects they saw in every scene. It was the self proclaimed gurus they met along the way, those who preached unity while practicing schism-who pretended to be clean while they drank beer, smoked pot and cursed like sailors-who proclaimed themselves positive while they screamed hatred into the mic. If every crew, in every scene, lived up to Crucial Youth's standards, youd see a more positive attitude spread across the face of hardcore.

Joe Crucial (Vocals) Maynard Krebs (Guitar) Gentleman Jim (Bass) Melvin Berkley (Drums) Ollie Grind (Guitar)

Other members included Tex-Mex X and their European friend Dutch Treat
