CONFERENCE SOUTH St Albans Cambridge City 1 /DRAW NO BET (1.70 @Betway) 6 units Very nice odds for this DNB at Betway, but you can improvise a similar one yourself. St Albans are improving under new manager, after all they managed to beat Torquay in the Setanta Shield and they won their last league match too (at home vs Bromley at the start of December). Three wins in a row in all competitions. Cambridge are nothing to be afraid of, especially away from home where they won only once, at Weston. (2.35 for a normal home win at Betway and Stanleybet, 2.37 currently at Betfair, 2.30 at Bwin, 2.29 at 10Bet... StanJames and Stanleybet offer 3.60 for a draw and currently 3.66 at Betfair...) FT 0:2 RYMAN DOUBLE: Leyton Hornchurch 2 @1.40 & Wimbledon Carshalton 1 @1.60 (2.24 @Bwin) 4 units After Leyton lost 1:11 at home to Hendon, a club spokesman said: 'This was a freak result and it will not happen again'. But, a couple of days ago, oops they did it again lost 1:6 at a much worse team than Hendon Harlow. It's Boxing Day and I expect a couple of 'freak results' (like Leyton's spokesman would say), but Leyton are starting to look like Slough from last season (or Lancaster in Conference North) and I hope they can continue to play as awful as they did against Hendon and Harlow. They even lost a bunch of players in this last couple of days and, because they have no fans' forum, no one knows what bunch of local kids will play for them in this match. Hornchurch were great last time away from home at Billericay who were very motivated Hornchurch won 2:0 and they need this win after a shock defeat at home to Ahsford in the last round. It wouldn't look pretty, losing at Leyton, right guys? Wimbledon Carshalton is the South West London derby and after losing to Chelmsford in the Ryman Premier biggest derby a few weeks ago, Wimbledon's fans will expect at least a strong handicap win against poor Carshalton. Only a shock result of the day could leave Wimbledon with no points here. Carshalton are second to bottom, they lost at home to ten-men Harrow this Saturday, they lost Fontana recently, Wimbledon brought in probably the best scorer in the league Main who scored an equaliser at promotion candidates Ramsgate a couple of days ago and Gayle is fit again too and announcing more goals from him, you do the additional math... (2.32 at Stanleybet, 2.25 at Digibet, Primebet and Tipico, 2.16 at Sportingbet and Paddy Power, 2.10 at Gamebookers and PartyBets...) FT 2:5 / 2:0 CONFERENCE SOUTH Eastleigh Basingstoke 1 (2.05 @Bwin) 4 units Can't see visitors who have big financial problems lately doing much here. I love the odds, because Eastleigh under Baird are a very solid outfit, especially at home, Scannell is still at the club (he's sold to Southport, but he'll play for Eastleigh untill the transfer window opens in Janury), they have a new midfielder who came from Bromley... Basingstoke were playing good lately, but with all these financial problems, cuts and speculations, I think it must have an effect on the players. But, even if we'd ignore that, these odds are still huge and I'll be glad to take this bet. (2.03 at 10Bet and at Betfair currently, 2.00 at StanJames, Betway and Stanleybet...) FT 1:1 CONFERENCE SOUTH AD-HOC DRAW NO BET: Weston Super Mare Newport 2 (2.40 @Betway) 3 units & X (3.60 @StanJames) 1 unit I like this improvised DNB more than Betway's DNB odds (1.70). Weston are terrible lately, especially at home, and Newport are one of the best teams in Conference South and they won their last two cup fixtures without conceding a goal (3:0 Bath City, 1:0 Swansea). Home win would be a shock result here and I doubt we can be totally out of luck these days. (2.40 for a home win also at Tipico and Stanleybet, 2.38 at StanJames and Blue Square, 1.70 for DNB at Betway, 3.60 for a draw also at Bet365 and Skybet, 3.80 at Stanleybet...) FT 2:2 RYMAN PREMIER AD-HOC DRAW-NO-BET: Tonbridge Horsham 1 (2.38 @StanJames) 3 units & X (3.60 @StanJames) 1 unit After a great FA Cup run, Horsham just can't get it together. They still didn't find a permanent replacement for striker Rook (they brought in Sigere from Lewes on loan and he should play in this match, but he's still not 100% fit after being out injured) who went to Tonbridge (after Main left Tonbridge for Wimbledon). He isn't the only one who replaced Horsham with Tonbridge. Angels' manager Warrilow, for instance, knows all about Horsham because he was assistant manager there for four years (he came to Tonbridge last month) and after bringing in Westcott and Rook from his old club (Horsham), now he also brought in experienced forward Fontana from Carshalton too, just a couple of days ago. Both of these clubs are in the dangerous zone of the Ryman Premier, but Tonbridge are in the worse position (lower on the table, more matches played) and that can only be motivating in this match. I can't see an away win here, but a draw could happen... (2.30 at Sportingbet, Bwin, Bet-at-home and Paddy Power for a home win, only 2.15 at Stanleybet... Skybet and Stanleybet also offer 3.60 for a draw, 3.50 elsewhere...) FT 1:5 RYMAN PREMIER Heybridge Chelmsford 2 (2.05 @Sportingbet) 3 units Chelmsford were awesome this Saturday against Margate (5:1) and now when they're league leaders again, I can't see them surrendering top spot just a couple of days after a great home win. Away from home, they could be better than they were so far and I think their last away match (2:4 defeat at Boreham Wood) was an ultimate lesson. Heybridge are improving, they have some good results recently and we mustn't expect a huge win this time, but I can't see nothing but an away win here. Chelmsford just refused a hi-fi bid for their star-striker Holmes (although they have other great strikers too Brayley scored a hat-trick against Margate). These two teams played a league match the last Boxing Day too. It was 1:1 at Chelmsford but this season Chelmsford players have to prove to themselves and their fans that they are taking every match seriously and that they will promote to Conference South. I wouldn't go below 1.90, 2.05 looks very good, but only 3 units this time... (2.10 at Stanleybet, 1.91 at Gamebookers, Bet365, Paddy Power and PartyBets, 1.90 at Bwin, Bet-at-home, Digibet, Primebet and Tipico...) FT 1:2 SOUTHERN PREMIER Swindon Cirencester 1 (2.00 @StanJames) 3 units Swindon didn't manage to beat Chippenham when we placed a bet on them last time, but they're still doing fine in the Southern Premier this Saturday they managed to beat Hitchin away from home. They brought in another midfielder a couple of days ago and should grab all three points here. Cirencester are really struggling lately. They did manage to beat poor Cheshunt 4:3 this Saturday (their keeper was apparently shocking), but away from home they're quite terrible lately one draw and four defeats in the last five away fixtures. Nice odds. (1.95 at Stanleybet, 1.91 at Skybet and Paddy Power, 1.90 at Sportingbet and Bet-and-win...) FT 1:1 |
