Tuesday CONFERENCE SOUTH Thurrock Sutton 1 (1.80 @StanJames) 5 units (-1) Thurrock Sutton 1 (3.10 @Blue Square) 1 unit Thurrock are currently 16th but are improving and at home they've never been a bad team. Let's look at their home matches 2:3 defeat to title candidates Lewes, 1:1 against 12th Basingstoke, 2:0 win against 15th Welling, 0:5 shock defeat to 7th Hampton, but then came two home wins in a row 1:0 against 20th Bognor Regis and 3:1 against 14th Hayes & Yeading. After losing at Basingstoke a month ago, they had a spectacular comeback away at 21nd St Albans it was 5:0 for Thurrock. If they manage to score in the first half, I think they could score one or two more in the second. They brought in a new striker (and a couple of other players), Hughes from Heybridge (he also played for Colchester) and he scored in his first match. They also have a good goalkeeper recently, Blackmore (on loan from West Ham) he already saved a couple of penalties and central back Swaine should return to the squad after suspension. Sutton are 22nd, bottom of the table with 5 points out of 12 matches. They're still without a manager (''...we really need to get the manager situation sorted asap so that we can sign a striker. The break after tomorrow's game will be good for everyone concerned I think...'') and now we finally have decent odds against them. They've lost six league matches in a row and haven't scored in their last two outings (0:3 at home to mid-table Weston, 0:3 away at league leaders Eastbourne, ''...they were undone by their familiar failings of defensive errors and an inability to put the ball in the net...''). They also lost away at Bromley in the Setanta Cup (1:2) and at Lewes in the FA Cup (0:1) and this will be their 4th away match in two weeks. Thurrock always play good at home against Sutton, last season it was 3:0 and the season before that 5:3 to Thurrock. This is a normal handicap, not an asian handicap, so this (-1) bet is won only if Thurrock wins by two or more goals... (Bet-at-home, Betsafe, Betway, Bwin, Gamebookers, PartyBets, Primebet and Sportingbet all offer 1.75 for a straight home win... Digibet offer 2.65 for a handicap win, Stanleybet offer only 2.07... Stanleybet's odds for a normal home win are very bad only 1.40...) Staines are great away from home and Abingdon is just a mid-table team from the league below. Kings Lynn, after playing 12 away matches and only 2 (!) home matches this season (won both), surely want to do well infront of their supporters. Sudbury are doing well in Ryman North but aren't very good away from home and they didn't win for four matches in a row. (1.88 at Bwin, 1.85 at Skybet...) FT 2:1 / 5:2 Bromley St Albans OVER 3.5 (2.88 @Blue Square) 2 units Let's just have a look at Bromley's recent league results, shall we? 3:1 win at home against Bishop's Stortford, 2:2 at Lewes, 3:2 home win against Basingstoke, 1:3 home defeat to league leaders Eastbourne, 3:2 away win at Dorchester. So, these guys obviously like to score, but they also concede a lot of goals. And now, let's have a look at recent St Albans away matches, okay? 4:3 shocking away win at Bishop's Stortford, 0:3 defeat at Bath City (and Bath City's strikers aren't really goal-scoring machines), 1:4 defeat at Hampton & Richmond this Saturday and Hampton apparently could have scored at least five more goals. St Albans are having a terrible season, there have been a lot of comings and goings recently (including a new manager). They have nothing to lose in this match and I'm sure they'll try to score and they'll probably pick up a couple more bookings, maybe even a red card (six players got booked this Saturday). If they score twice, this bet is practically won because Bromley players know how to score too. Bromley scores more and more goals at home as the season continues, in their first home match they scored one goal, then two goals in next two home matches and then three in two matches. After that came the 1:3 defeat to league leaders, but now we could again see a lot of Bromley's goals. Bromley scored 12 and conceded 10 goals in their last five league matches. As for their scorers, Hockton and Williams both scored five goals and McCleary and McDonnell both scored four. Silly odds, really, Bromley are a better team by far and should score a lot of goals, but yes, St Albans could score a goal or two also so 2.88 for OVER 3.5? Anytime. (2.75 at Betway, 2.31 at Stanleybet...) FT 3:4 Hampton & Richmond Bishop's Stortford OVER 3.5 (3.25 @Blue Square) 2 units 2:2 at home vs Cambridge, 5:0 away at Thurrock, 3:1 away at Eastleigh, 2:6 away at Bishop's Stortford (yes), 1:1 at home vs Maidenhead, 2:1 away at Basingstoke and 4:1 at home vs St Albans this Saturday. These are the Hampton's league matches in September and October. Hampton also won 3:1 at home against Braintree in the FA Cup 3rd qualifying round and then 2:0 away at Worthing, and also 3:1 away at Basingstoke in the Setanta Cup. A lot of goals and the result that really sticks out is that 2:6 away defeat at... Well, look at that, Bishop's Stortford. Revenge? Nah, I'd be satisfied with a 4:4 draw. Bishops' recent results are very similar 3:4 at home vs St Albans, 1:3 away at Bromley, 6:2 at home vs Hampton, 1:0 away at Fisher, 2:2 at home vs Eastleigh and 4:0 away at Weston this Saturday.
