Preshish Moments is the moniker of twenty-six year old Michael Carter. He makes electronic music and builds unique instruments for live performance. In 2007 he used one of these instruments to win the San Francisco Laptop & Machine Music Battle, competing against over fifty contestants. His debut album "Let's be Friends" is set to come out on Daly City Records on July 1st 2008 and he can often be heard performing in and around the San Francisco Bay Area at a wide variety of venues playing an even wider variety of styles.

Raised in a suburb of Los Angeles (and former home of the Carpenters), he played clarinet as a child and became obsessed with spinning records and the art of sampling as a teen. He learned how to spin hip-hop and jungle by closely studying flourishing local hip-hop and rave scenes.

He moved to Chicago in 2000 to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for painting, but quickly changed his focus to sound design. He learned more about electronics and audio engineering and became interested in creating new ways to play electronic music. This was also where he discovered the music of Aphex Twin, Venetian Snares, Squarepusher, and countless other electronic musicians who pushed the boundaries of dance music.

In 2005 he moved to Oakland to pursue a Masters Degree in Electronic Music and Recording Media at Mills College and it was here that he finally built and began to perform with the instrument of his dreams. He uses it to play house, noise, hip-hop, dubstep, jungle, hardcore, breakcore, drone, free improv, cyber-boogie, metal, pop, wedding music, chant-rock, and pre-preshcore. He also likes to bake.

Preshish Moments is the cuddly demon-seed of Michael Carter and the 2007 winner of the San Francisco Laptop & Machine Music Battle. Hailing from Berkeley, CA, Preshish Moments builds unique instruments for the performance of electronic music.

"Let's be Friends" is Preshish's debut album. It devours hip-hop, house, jungle, pop, rock, hardcore, breakcore n' more, and vomits out a rainbow of offbeat melodies and skittering drums. It features several smash hits such as "Best Friends" and "Hollaaaaaa".

After a few years of playing music as members of other bands, brothers
Stephen and John Gomez, along with longtime friend and fellow musician
Jessica Bowen, set out in the spring of 2007 with a new idea in mind, and,
with new found lead singer Brian Dales on board, they formed The Summer Set.
The Summer Set began with a simple goal: to bring its unique and catchy brand
of fun, upbeat pop rock to as many fans as possible. Soon after the pieces
fell into place, The Summer Set began planning and writing their first EP,
Love the Love You Have, which was self-released in November of 2007. The
band independently sold 7,000 copies in just a few short months. With their
catchy melodies and cool, approachable, friends next door image, the band
quickly captured the hearts of local fans in their hometown of Phoenix and
assembled a strong and loyal fan base across the west from weekend tours.
They set their sights on doing the same throughout the rest of the country.
After shopping around to find the perfect label for the band, The Summer Set
recently signed a record deal with The Militia Group. They are extremely
satisfied with their decision and new family. Shortly after that decision was
made, the band set out to record their newest EP entitled In Color. With
the recording done, the band lead singer Brian Dales, bassist Stephen
Gomez, guitarist John Gomez and drummer Jess Bowen, are all eager to hit the
road, play shows and build their fan base across the country. In Color will
be available on iTunes June 24th and in stores later this summer.

Ray Anderson can make a trombone sound like a hive of bees or just about anything else. That means he's a good match for Ibrahim Electric's Ibrahim Electric Meets Ray Anderson Again, recorded live at Copenhagen's JazzHouse and Pakhuset in ?rhus in February 2007, the second meeting between these two forces of nature.

This group is all about fun, funk and a few other things: a popular 1960s party groove meets jazz improv, blues and rocking riffs with a jam band feel. They've done this before and perhaps the idea is if it ain't broke don't fix it. These guys don't take themselves too seriously and that's a good thing.

Song titles give a clue to what this is all about. Among the eight tracks, there's “Funkorific,” “Splash,” “Skip It,” “Blue Balls” and “Absinthe”; in Danish maybe all that spells p-a-r-t-y?

Who are these guys (if you don't know already)? They're all Danes: Niclas Knudsen on guitar, Stefan Pasborg on drums and Jeppe Tuxen on Hammond B3 organ. And, oh yeah, that American trombone... “Vocals” are supplied by the screaming audience members at the show in Copenhagen. They sound like they didn't spend much time in their seats.

Throughout Anderson provides tireless, inventive solos, amiably supported by the large talents of these great Danes. While somewhat derivative in mood and inspiration—originals, but incorporating many reworked riffs and beats of the psychedelic era— all eight pieces sound vibrant and energetic and just the thing for your next rent party. This is the kind of record where you don't have to think too much. Think of it as a Copenhagen vacation, circa 1968.

Greg Laswell, who has recently gained recognition due to “What a Day”
from his How the Day Sounds album being featured in Grey’s Anatomy, presents
Three Flights from Alto Nido as the follow up album that reflects his musical potential.

With rich vocals and excellent instrumentation, Three Flights from Alto Nido is an album
worth listening to; it is diverse in its moods and is, without a doubt, capable of being
emotionally evocative. It’s surprising that Laswell has not been recognized by the general
listening audience as his talent is something that should not go overlooked.

Three Flights from Alto Nido is, for all intents and purposes, chock full of hits.
What makes Laswell’s album stand out is his reinforcement of the melody, either through
it being echoed in other instruments or through the use of background vocals. By opening
Three Flights from Alto Nido with mellow tracks showcasing his talented vocals and
band members, Laswell creates an album that is a hit.

Though his style is reminiscent of singers like Chris Martin of Coldplay and John Mayer,
Laswell’s sound is unique; what makes him really excel and overtake the limelight is
his instrumentation. His piano techniques and his use of xylophone give his album an almost
ethereal sound. With outstanding vocals and consistently strong tracks, Three Flights
from Alto Nido is a brilliant album and with Laswell’s recent recognition will, hopefully,
get the attention it deserves.
