"I take a lot of inspiration from Madonna on stage," priznaje devetnaestogodinšnjakina za People.com. "I love her costumes - they're so creative. They're very bold and fearless, and they make her seem like a very powerful and independent woman.....Keeping good people around me really helps me to stay grounded and humble," kaže RiRi.

»The Hammer Pick Rihanna's Umbrella As #1

Hank "The Hammer" Goldberg, the brain trusts behind Ladbrokes, the largest betting company in the U.K. and online-gaming purveyors Bodog Entertainment picks Rihanna's "Umbrella" as the winner of this year's Video Music Awards. He placed odds at 3/5, saying that he made "Umbrella" his favorite because he "watched all the videos and I figured out who was hot. And I don't think there's a hotter video than 'Umbrella.' "

In picking the videos, Goldberg says: "I looked at the videos - I knew the stories behind a couple of them - and I tried to figure out who's hot right now..." He placed Amy Winehouse, Beyonce, Kanye West, and Justin Timberlake as #2-#6 respectively. Meanwhile, Nick , head of Ladbrokes' novelty betting division placed "Umbrella" on #3 below Justin Timberlake and Beyonce with 4/1 odds because it is a "popular single, but the video may just lack edge."
