Hitting the slopes...

If 5 years ago somebody told me that I was going to become a real skiing enthusiast I would have told him he was mad. But people, the unbelievable happened, and now I just can’t wait for the next opportunity to hit the slopes..
We went skiing almost every day between Xmas and New Year, went again last weekend and will, in all probability go the next. I am trying to improve my technique..which works well on the "not so steep" runs..on the steep ones, my highest ambition is just to stay on my feet ..

We mostly went to the resort of "Obereggen"..which is half an hour drive from Bolzano (where M. hails from), at 1500 m. The highest lift point I went to is at 2100m. The view from the top is amazing since you get to see a lot of Dolomite mountains - which South Tirol is famous for.

Ski Resort Obereggen. In the end, you are spoilt for choice here in South Tirol..the numerous ski areas are scattered around..we went to the abovementioned because it is known for well-maintained slopes..

The thing that probably motivated me most is that the whole family went skiing together: M., myself, his brother with wife and kids..It was a lots of fun..especially since A. is a really good skier, doing funny things all the time like making pirouettes in the air, jumping on the skis ..quite awesome what a guy can do!

The guest-structure in Obereggen is like : 50 locals, 30 % Italians, 10% Eastern Europeans(Poles, Slovaks etc) and the rest is a funny mixture of all the possible nationalities : Scandinavians, Greek, I even saw some Indian people.
No pretentious nouveau-riche Russians - so it was fine with me (I guess they go to the more prominent resorts of Val Gardena)

One of the rare annoyances are actually the snow boarders..Many of them are not that skilled at all (I presume snow-boarding is much harder to learn then skiing) and you always live in permanent fear that some of them are going to crash into you..as a matter of fact, few of them did..they do not even apologize (that's why I always have ready few basic curses in Italian )..
