Um se kreće poput klatna, od jedne krajnosti do druge. Ljubav ne postaje vezanost. Vezanost je bila potreba, ljubav je bila samo mamac. Kad je riba uhvaćena, mamac se baca. To je pogodba da te nitko drugi ne može koristiti. Oba se partnera osjećaju zarobljeni i vezani. Ja činim od tebe roba, i ti zauzvrat činiš od mene roba. Ja želim biti slobodan, a još uvijek želim da ti budeš u mom posjedu; ti želiš zadržati svoju slobodu, a i dalje me posjedovati; to je borba. Posjedovanje ne smije ući između. Mi moramo ostati individue i kretati se kao neovisne, slobodne svijesti. Mi možemo poći zajedno, mi se možemo stopiti jedno u drugom, ali nitko ne posjeduje. Tada nema Vezanosti i tada nema vezanosti. Vezanost je jedna od najružnijih stvari. Kad ste privrženi, vi ste izgubili svoju samostalnost, samoću: izgubili ste sve. Samo zato da se osjetite dobro što vas netko treba i što je netko s vama, izgubili ste sebe. Ali trik je u tome što pokušavate biti neovisni, a od drugog činite posjed, a drugi čini to isto. Zato ne posjedujte ako ne želite biti u posjedu. Gospodari, takozvani gospodari, su uvijek robovi svojih vlastitih robova. Ne možete postati gospodar bez da postanete rob, to je nemoguće. Možete biti gospodar samo kad vam nitko nije rob. Kako mogu biti gospodar, ako mi nitko nije rob? Onda nitko nije vaš rob i nitko neće pokušati od vas učiniti roba. Ja mogu dijeliti sebe s nekim. Mogu dijeliti svoju ljubav, mogu dijeliti svoju sreću, mogu dijeliti svoje blaženstvo, svoju tišinu, s nekim. Ali to je dijeljenje, a ne ovisnost.
