Who were these clowns?
Having a holiday weekend without a family member felt like putting on a sweater that had an extra arm.
There are no wise few. Every aristocracy that has ever existed has behaved, in all essential points, exactly like a small mob.
At a dinner party one should eat wisely but not too well, and talk well but not too wisely.
We cannot deny the facts of nature, but we should certainly try to improve on them.
In real life, unlike in Shakespeare, the sweetness of the rose depends upon the name it bears. Things are not only what they are. They are, in very important respects, what they seem to be.
It's takin' whatever comes your way, the good AND the bad, that give life flavor. It's all the stuff rolled together that makes life worth livin'.
