There are a number of merchants houses that reflect the opulent lifestyle of the successful trader. The Shudrovskaya Palatka was constructed in the 17th century and the St Vedensky convent was renovated to the present state in the 20th century. Many churches were pulled down to make room for the factories, so even though this city is on the Golden Ring route, it is very different to the other historical and charming cities. During the early 20th century, the founder of the museum moved this church to the new Posadskoye. It was restored and renovated to its past glory and opened in 1906. The bell tower was added in 1905, and this ancient church was handed over to the community of Old Believers after it was consecrated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. This charming church is set against the lush forests and woods of this city. House ship This is a unique building that resembles the silhouette of a ship. This five level building was constructed to look like a ship, it was built in 1934, during the Soviet times. An interesting building that most visitors will visit when in Ivanovo. The bow is made with a beveled side and the stern has the eight level tower on the opposite side. The deck is represented by the two rows of balconies and the small balconies appear to be bridges. The ground floor of this building is with glass and the house appears to float above the ground. With not many ancient buildings, the house ship is unique in this city. The fastest route is through Moscow's Shosse Entuziastov and it crosses Vladimir and Suzdal, traffic is a bother and the hold up could take over 5 hours! There are many trains that link the two cities of Moscow and Ivanovo from the Yaroslavsky railway station and the timings are regular. There are trains from Moscow that leave at 22:00 and reaches Ivanovo early in the morning. The bus from the main bus station in Moscow runs several trips a day, this is the cheapest way to get to Ivanovo, but the buses are old and it will get full fast. The trolleybus system was launched in 1962. The traffic inside the city is busy and parking can be a problem, it is best to hire a taxi or use the trolleybus.
