A trio for piano and two stringed instruments, usually violin and cello


A piano trio is a group of piano and two other instruments, usually a violin and a cello, or a piece of music written for such a group. It is one of the most common forms found in classical chamber music.


Leonard Bernstein's Piano Trio for piano, violin, and cello was written in 1937 while he was attending Harvard University as a student of Walter Piston. He was influenced by the conductor Dmitri Mitropoulos. Several melodic ideas were recycled for use in later pieces.


The Piano Trio, Op. 8, is a piano trio in G minor composed by Frederic Chopin. It has four movements: #Allegro con Fuoco #Scherzo #Adagio Sostenuto #Finale: Allegretto

The clarinet is a musical instrument that is a part of the woodwind family. The name derives from adding the suffix -et (meaning little) to the Italian word clarino (meaning a type of trumpet), as the first clarinets had a strident tone similar to that of a trumpet.
