The Nikon EM is a beginner’s level, interchangeable lens, 35 mm film, single lens reflex (SLR) camera. It was manufactured by Nippon Kogaku K. K. (today Nikon Corporation) in Japan from 1979 to 1982 (available new from dealer stock until circa 1984). The camera was originally designed and marketed to the growing market of new women photographers then entering the SLR buyer's market.[1] The EM uses a Seiko MFC-E focal plane shutter with a speed range of 1 to 1/1000th second plus Bulb and flash X-sync of 1/90th second. It is 86 mm high, 135 mm wide, 54 mm deep and weighed 460 g. Unlike most Nikons of the time, it was available only in black. The EM has no full manual exposure mode capability, but instead was intended to be used by inexperienced photographers who could not easily master the intricacies of shutter speeds and f-stops. There were also significant changes over previous cameras in the internal mechanics and electronics of the EM, designed to lower costs. Gone were the tight tolerances, ball bearing film advance, and high-quality titanium shutter. The introductory US list price for the body plus normal lens was only $231 – note that SLRs usually sold for 30 to 40 percent below list price.

The EM accepts nearly all lenses with the Nikon F bayonet mount (introduced in 1959) supporting the Automatic Indexing (AI) feature (introduced in 1977). The contemporary Nikon made AI lenses were the Nikkor AI-S, Nikkor AI and Nikon Series E types. The AF-S Nikkor, AF-I Nikkor, AF Nikkor D and AF Nikkor autofocus lenses are also AI types. Nikon’s most recent 35 mm film SLR lenses, the AF Nikkor G type (introduced in 2000) lacking an aperture control ring; and the AF Nikkor DX type (2003) with image circles sized for Nikon's digital SLRs will mount but will not function properly. IX Nikkor lenses (1996), for Nikon's Advanced Photo System (APS) film SLRs, must not be mounted, as their rear elements will intrude far enough into the mirror box to cause damage.

This size 6 fitted ring is made with square antique bronze wire, swirled lightly around 2 bronzite beads. The bronzite is dark brown with swirls and flecks of brighter copper.

The ring sits at size 6 on a ring sizer. To see if this would fit you, wrap a thread around your finger and measure its length. If the tread measures 2 1/8 inches (5.5cm) then this ring will fit you.

I used natural copper18 gauge wire to make this cute little ring and it was wrapped around a wooden mandrel (ring sizer) and hammered on the same mandrel to insure strength and durability.

Shanks Blackwell is delicious and easy to make. It's lamb shanks braised in an exotic tomato-cherry-curry sauce.

Recipe: Slice a medium yellow onion and sweat it until tender in some oilive oil in a dutch oven over medium heat. Add a good amount of sweet curry powder, ancho chile powder, and Spanish paprika, and then a bit of cinnamon and fresh-ground black pepper (all to taste). Roast the spices for a minute to bring out the flavors. If they start smoking, move right to the next step to prevent burning. Add 1 small can of tomato paste and cook until it's dark and roasted looking. Add a quart of chicken stock, 1 teaspoon dried French thyme, two big bay leaves, three cloves of garlic (minced), a half cup of pitted and halved fresh cherries, and, finally, two generous lamb shanks. (Note that the shanks are not browned beforehand and you could add more shanks if you wanted and your pot had room.) Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Cover and simmer for two or three hours, turning the shanks now and again to ensure all sides get to enjoy the braising liquid. Serve when the meat is falling off the bone; finish the dish with mint, cilantro, or parsley.

This is my grandmothers engagement ring. It was custom made for her over a period of time. The ring originally had the center diamond. But there were additions later in their marriage.

We'll get another one from Orkney later in the year but this is just beautiful.

A set of stainless steel barrels with black and gold tone checker design around the barrels with the word "Amour" on the side of it.. I had a engagement shoot there Saturday and took this before the couple arrived. I've seen this amazing place on flickr numerous times and I was happy that the couple wanted their session here. I wanted to visit there, and my clients wanted their session there so it all worked out perfectly. I'm so glad my best friend Betty was there to be my assistant or I wouldn't know what I'd do!! Thanks Betty!!! Needless to say, I'm not 100% satisfied with the processing. The weather was horrible since the skies were gray and it was windy - thank goodness for filters!!!

I'm graduating June 13, and I'm nervous and excited and of course, scared. I'll finally be done with my B.A degree and off to the real world. If I can capture my own graduation, I would love to, problem is, I don't have a photographer to capture my day. Hopefully I'll have photos to share with you guys after the ceremony.

The Korean Bell of Friendship is a massive bronze bell housed in a stone pavilion in Angel's Gate Park, in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Located at the corner of Gaffey and 37th Streets, the section of the park is alternatively called the "Korean-American Peace Park," and occupies part of the former Upper Reservation of Fort MacArthur.

The bell was presented by the Republic of Korea to the American people to celebrate the bicentennial of the United States, to honor American veterans of the Korean War, and to symbolize friendship between the two nations. The effort was coordinated by Philip Ahn, a Korean-American actor. It was dedicated on October 3, 1976 and declared Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 187 in 1978.

It is modeled after the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok the Great of Silla (also known as the Emille Bell), cast in 771 for Bongdeok Temple and now located at the National Museum of Gyeongju; both are among the largest bells in the world. The bell is made of over 17 tons of copper and tin, with gold, nickel, lead, and phosphorus added to the alloy for tone quality. It has a diameter of 7? feet, average thickness of 8 inches, and a height of 12 feet. The exterior surface is richly decorated in relief, featuring four pairs of figures. Each pair includes a "Goddess of Liberty" (bearing some resemblance to the Statue of Liberty) and an apsarasa or Korean spirit figure holding a Korean national symbol: a Yin Yang symbol, a branch of rose of Sharon, a branch of laurel, and a dove.

The bell is struck four times a year: on New Year's Eve, the national independence days of the United States (Fourth of July) and South Korea (August 15) and every September in celebration of Constitution Week. The bell does not have a clapper; instead, it is sounded by striking it with a large wooden log.

The pavilion which houses the bell was built by Korean craftsmen over a period of ten months. Its design is traditional. It is symmetric, consisting of a peaked, gabled roof supported by twelve columns representing the Chinese zodiac, each column guarded by a carved animal.

my schedule hasn't been fixed yet after just a couple days of work, so i'm enjoying sleepless nights and foggy days. i've been consistently fucking up at work for months now, mainly because i have absolutely no respect for anyone in charge. regardless, i don't necessarily want a new job, so i need to just ignore my seething hatred and get my ass back in line. i don't fuck up at work. i never have. that's not me. i may have little ambition in life, but i have a strong work ethic.

i've ignored my planner in these past months, and without that i can't really function at full capacity. wandering mind and poor short-term memory and whatnot. now that the year's new i've been searching for a 2010 one. i spent hours looking last night, and i found something too beautiful to even use and only $20. i hope it's as fantastic in person as online. it's korean.

today my goal was to find an awesome pen to accompany it and succeeded. ugh i hate waiting for things to show up in the mail. i am all about immediate gratification.

This is another variation on my earlier titanium band. In this one, the main difference is that the titanium has been impressed with the sunflower pattern that I use in much of my work.

I love the way this ring turned out. It is a perfect combination of its minimalist more industrial predecessor, and the floral patterned sterling and gold rings that started me down this path. At first glance this ring looks very simple, with the main feature being the contrasts between the different metals used. But upon closer inspection, you can see the subtle textures of the sunflower pattern. This is the ring for someone who wants something between traditional and a more subdued personal expression.

This ring is 1/4" wide and a size 7. It is made from sterling silver, titanium, and 14k gold.

These bands were made by me and my finacee for our wedding. My fiancee, who has made jewelry in the past, made the pattern on the mokume-- starting with a flat sheet of 19 layers of alternating sterling silver and copper. When she finished creating the mokume, I took over, making the finished ring.

To create Rachael's bespoke handmade wedding stationery & decor, we incorporated pretty vintage style floral cotton fabric, Polka dots, ribbon, heart buttons (of course!) and pretty pink hand finished stitching

We worked closely with our client Rachael to produce a design that embraced all aspects of her quirky, gentile, sweet and personable character. We sourced fabrics based on Rachaels colour preferences, and her love for all things vintage and the 50's era, to create a feel that would be replicated across the whole wedding day theme, including all the delicious finishing touches! The favors, table plan, table numbers, vintage card case and not to forget the bunting!

1940's style wedding • August 14th 2010

This wedding was so much fun to shoot. The bride and groom and the entire bridal party were decked out in 1940's style attire. The guys in Fedoras and vests, the girls with pin curls or fingerwaves and red lipstick. They had so many creative touches, and the Unitarian Church chapel was bright, white and beautiful! What a great day!
