The closest beach to the parking lot is at the same time the best choice for children and families, because of its pebble inlet combined with a large paved area and a pier, offering a gently sloping access to the sea. The western part of the Škaraba beach consists of a number of small and hidden rocky bays, often frequented also by naturists, although the beach is not specified as a naturist beach. This part of the beach is also known for its strong undercurrents and the romantic view of the open sea. Its pebble and sandy inlet is one of the safest beaches around, especially because of its sheltered location and a gently sloping bottom suitable for little children. In front of the beach there is a small and very peaceful island. Cisterna Beach Cisterna beach is a lovely pebbly beach located 7km south of Rovinj town centre. It can be accessed from the regional road to Pula, by turning left just a few meters before the campsite Vestar. It is a public beach with turquoise water and a backdrop of trees which gives it a feel of a wild and romantic beach. The entrance to the water is flat and the water is calm, so it is ideal for families with children, although there are almost no facilities nearby. Besides the beach bar, along the 3km long dirt road leading from the asphalt road to the beach, there are a few family-run restaurants offering a very relaxed atmosphere. The beach is very popular among locals and it can get very crowded on weekends. In the vicinity there is one of the must-see natural heritage sites, the Palud wetlands, a special ornithological reserve with more than 200 bird species, offering lovely walks and direct contact with nature. Some of the beaches offer easy access to the sea, whilst there are also rocky parts reserved for good swimmers. Dog friendly beaches If you are traveling with pets, there are quite a few dog friendly beaches, with areas designated for dogs use only.
