Britains future. Or so we hoped. The last of the Grammar School lot. A school of 300 boys of better than average academic ability was turned overnight into a school of 1300 boys of "mixed" ability in a failed government experiment in education. It felt like the focus went from academic excellence to prison survival skills. But we did get the first girl in 100 years of the schools history. We even had a black kid. Don't judge us, southern England is peculiarly white, he was the only black dude for 25 miles in any direction. We were proud of that kid. But not so proud that the photographer put him in the picture. Damola Balogun, where are you now?
