dust in the wind lyrics

Dust, dust, dust (how to keep it away?) - 2CPU.com Discussion Forums

I just cleaned out my SMP box for Xmas.

It was fairly filthy inside - dust just about anywhere.

Not a pleasant task.

It took me dust in the wind lyrics three hours to clean everything - I ended up washing the case and its parts in the sink (and drying them thoroughly, of course). My box lives in a Lian-Li PC70 full tower.

Inside the box:- Enhance 460W EPS PSU (and about 500 miles of cable).- Supermicro P4DCE+ motherboard with 4x256MB Rambus (yuck).- Two 1.8Ghz Prestonias with Akasa 680 (I think) HSFs.- Two Seagate 7200rpm HDs.- GF3 Ti200 graphics card (includes a fan) and a PCI Firewire/USB2 card.- Floppy in the wind lyrics DVD/RW and CD/RW.At the front of the case is a pair of 80mm Zalman fans pulling air in.

At the back is a pair of 80mm Papst fans pushing air out.

The PSU has a couple of fans as well - one on the top (which points into nothingness - there's a void above the PSU) and one backwards facing fan.Is there anything I can do to minimise the amount of dust that gets into the case?

I've moved the box from on the floor (it's in a corner) on to my desk but it's far too loud (and I'm getting a headache) so it'll be going back once I've tidied up.

More dust in the wind lyrics Better fans?

Below the desk? Above it?

By the wall? Away from the wall?Any dust-busting tips would be most Xmas.
I use super mesh filters in front of my fans.

It makes the fans work harder and creates some more noise but it works.

You could try h20 cooling. dust in the wind lyrics
That case should have filters in of the fans (zalman).

Fans are noisier as filter has more dust on it - but thats how filter does the best job.

When filter is almost clogged, there is less space for new dust particles to come in.

Also, if you smoke in computer room, you can try some ionic air-purifier: http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/ca...9373/pcatid=22 - in tv ad it works.i like that case, lian-li 70, aluminum is good, especially considering your washing the case in your sink, hehehe, only i would like to know if that particular case accomodate 2 power supplies?

Can you please remember this question of mine, and measure vertical space for power supply inside your case?

Thanks. dust in the wind lyrics
dust in the wind lyrics I put mine on the table, seems to keep dust away from it.I have the same specs, but with 2ghz cpus. Thanks. There is space physically for two PSUs - about 220mm, but there is a plate on the back of the case where the PSU is for one PSU with two 80mm fans above it - if you want to fit two PSUs, you'll need to change the plate (or make your dust in the wind lyrics
Thanks and quick for kind reply.
Steal your girlfriend's pantyhose!-k
Ya, for some reason dust in the wind lyrics found that my case has less dust buildup if it is on carpet rather than just sitting on the floor, so I just took a scrap of dust in the wind lyrics that was just big enough to set my box on.

Of course, it probably also makes it quieter too.The idea about the pantyhose is a good one.

Lots of people use it to make filters cus it is easy to find and relatively cheap.

I hear they actually do a better job filtering than some of the commercial filters that you can buy from like newegg, et al.
The floor is the worst place to put a computer, unfortunately.

You can change out your fans for silenx stuff.

They are very quiet and a good amount of air.

Check out www.silenx.com for specs.

Then you can put the box on a shelf or something.Short of that, I guess vacuuming the floor everyday might help alleviate a lot of it.

Corners are notorious for gathering dust bunnies and stuff.

And while vacuuming, reverse the flow (if your vacuum cleaner can do it) and dust in the wind lyrics the case out once in a while. My P4DCE+ is running at 533 mhz fsb with PC1066.

I have two 2.4 ghz Xeons 604 pin running at normal speed.

1 120 mm silenx exhaust fan, psu fan, 80 mm hdd chassis fan and 120 mm AC fan (radio shack) on my radiator.

My system is watercooled since the original hsf's were too noisy. All of that and I can still hear my one Western Digital drive spinning!
dust in the wind lyrics Thanks for all the advice!

Looks like I'll be cleaning out the corner every week...Quote: Originally posted by KUSOJIJIAll of that and I can still my one Western Digital drive spinning!Unfortunately my box sounds like a tank.

I'm thinking of getting a different case (Lian-Li PC-V2100B) which should be a little quieter (I hope), as it appears to be foam-lined (and have a good internal design).

The noisiest part of mine seems be the fans on the CPUs - I'll have to investigate dust in the wind lyrics HSFs and/or fans for something a bit quieter.

I'll be keeping the system for a year or so longer and I use it pretty much all the time, so it's well worth it. dust in the wind lyrics
