I gave my students homework. They needed to shoot an object that was very important to them, their most prized possession, and that didn't breathe, like their children. Here is the image that I shot. My wedding ring is the single most important thing to me. It symbolizes everything that I have worked for in my life, everything that I value. My wife is the most amazing person I have ever met, with the kindest heart, and an amazing soul. Because of this ring, I have 2 beautiful children, and I live in a home, not just in a house. This ring has been with me everyday for the last 9 years, through every trial and tribulation, joyous and triumphant moments, thick and thin. Just like my wife. I struggled growing up, was never in 1 place for very long, switched schools, switched states, haven't had lifelong friends from childhood, I was never in a place that I felt was mine. I searched for a long time before I found someone who was willing to take a chance on me, and I know I don't always make it easy for her, but because of her, I have a place that is mine, & ours, and no one will ever be able to take that away. This ring reminds me everyday that I am the luckiest man on the earth. I respect this ring, cherish this ring, and will fight for everything this ring represents to me. Because of my family I will always be loved, I will always have a place I can call home, I will always be successful, I will always be cared for, and I will always know what it means to share those feelings. Because of this ring, I have a support group that will follow me into whatever endeavor I choose, and because of this ring, I will not make those choices lightly. It symbolizes something that is unbroken, complete, and because of my wife and family, and this ring that I so proudly wear, I am too.
