Reason for selling: Decided that I wanted to upgrade. Probably buying a 5D classic and using this to fund the new camera. No other reason -- if I wasn't looking to upgrade I would keep this thing for much longer. It takes stunning pictures.
Project 365 - 23
#23 - Dropped. Today I dropped the camera, and, of course, the good lens (the 17-85mm EF-S IS USM) was attached at the time. Things aren't looking too good for that lens right now. Hopefully by tomorrow I will have it all packed up in bubble-wrap and on the way to the Canon repair center in Jamesburg, NJ.
In the meantime, I will be trying to find creative ways to get shots with the 50mm prime lens, the only remaining glass at my disposal.
If anyone has any experience with Canon repairs, I would love to hear stories, especially details on how long it might take for me to get my estimate and/or get it fixed. Thanks.

Potholes result from the freeze-thaw cycle. Water from snow and rain seeps into small cracks in the roadway surface. As temperatures drop, the water freezes and expands, making the cracks bigger. Additional freezing and thawing will make these cracks larger until eventually, potholes form.
Heavy traffic, pavement age, vehicle weights, and snow and ice operations also contribute to the problem.
Crews make two types of repairs, depending on temperature and road conditions. A temporary "cold patch" is used at lower temperatures. Hot mix asphalt is applied at higher temperatures as a long-term fix.

Canoe
We have finally gotten custody of this canoe. Built by my husband and his father quite a while back, it's spent the last few years exposed to the elements and is in need of some rehabilitation. The canoe is cedar and fiberglass.

A look through the broken panes of a seventh grade window - inside you can see a table turned over and the board still on the wall.
The W.E.B. DuBois School opened in 1926 in the African-American community in Wake Forest, North Carolina. In 1939 it became the Wake Forest Colored High School and in 1971 was integrated and served as the campus of the Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School. When that school outgrew the facility and moved to its present location on South Main Street in 1989, the DuBois campus became vacant. For 10 years the campus was abandoned until the DuBois Alumni Association purchased it from the Wake County School System. The two oldest buildings are in such disrepair that they are falling down. The sixth and seventh grade buildings are boarded up but are in poor condition. The eighth grade and vocational buildings continue to deteriorate almost to a point beyond repair. The gym and shop buildings are being used as community centers.

Typical nasty underside of a well-used, but functional, 4G63 cylinder head. The 4G63 long block is a very robust design. Too bad they were mated with such pathetic alternators. Everyone who's owned a T/E/L knows what I'm talking about. :-)

Liverpool - the overhead railway. And some interesting facts.
The Liverpool Overhead Railway was the world's first electrically-operated overhead railway. It ran close to the River Mersey, following the line of Liverpool Docks.
It was opened in 1893 by the Marquis of Salisbury and finally closed in 1956. Electric traction was chosen to avoid sparks from the burning coal of steam power igniting nearby cargo.
The railway was the first in the world to use automatic signalling and electric signal lights. Another first was that the railway was double-decked along a lot of its length with freight trains running underneath the passenger deck.
Special advanced light-weight passenger cars were designed with each having its own electric motor. They were therefore the world's first light rail trains, and the first EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) trains, needing no locomotive to haul them.
The railway was known as the Dockers' Umbrella because the track bed on the railway was totally enclosed.
During WW2, the railway suffered extensively from bomb damage.
The railway was carried mainly on iron viaducts, with a corrugated iron decking, onto which the tracks were laid. As such, it was vulnerable to corrosion. Surveys in the mid 50's revealed that extensive repairs were required which the Liverpool Overhead Railway Company could not afford. Accordingly the company went into liquidation, and despite considerable protest, the line was closed on the evening of the 30th. December 1956.

Fuck dealerships
Gift left by a dealership mechanic, took 30min to get this out. The previous owners of my car had the dealership change the headgasket, which involves removing the exhaust manifold, the mouthbreather that was doing it snapped the head off of one the bolts holding the manifold to the engine (it just had to be the one that was hardest to get to) and didn't bother fixing it, so all that was left for me was a little stub sticking out, had to use a propane torch and vice grips to get it out.
Kaos
Took the bike halfway apart today , Soaked the air filter in oil for lube and got the engine to run on propane. I just wanted to make sure it was a good engine before spending money on new parts.
The Carb is beoyond repair
The clutch only has 1 pad out of 3 still on it.
The rear tire won't work on Gravel, to smooth, so I plan to get a knobby type tire.
And the milk crate is just on there to see if I can fit 2 on or not, still not to sure.
