  • A Pan tilt zoom camera (PTZ Camera) is a closed-circuit television camera with remote directional and zoom control.

  • Pan, Tilt, Zoom camera. Allows precise adjustments to be made to outgoing image.

  • PTZ stands for Pan, Tilt, and Zoom.  These cameras are usually remotely controlled by software or a joystick.  PTZ cameras are used when active real time monitoring with the ability to point the camera’s viewing area to a specific action or event is desired.

Interesting point about this 4 channel video encoder. Even though it can have 4 cameras plugged in, it only has one RS232 control for pan - tilt - zoom control. If you have more than one PTZ camera installed, you control all 4 cameras with the same RS232 connection.

Essentially, all PTZ cameras connected will pan, tilt and zoom the same.

Not the solution I was hoping for. It works great for a single camera install, and for a situation where you are using static cameras.
