I am not an adventurer by choice but by fate.
A man can do all things if he but wills them.
I guess we'd be living in a boring, perfect world if everybody wished everybody else well.
I believe in God, only I spell it Nature.
Do it now. It is not safe to leave a generous feeling to the cooling influences of the world.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Wit makes its own welcome, and levels all distinctions. No dignity, no learning, no force of character, can make any stand against good wit.
I was not a child prodigy, because a child prodigy is a child who knows as much when it is a child as it does when it grows up.
I don't mind what language an opera is sung in so long as it is a language I don't understand.
