Nexen series: The First and the Next
This is an interesting view.
In the foreground is the first modern skyscraper in Calgary. It was opened by the Guinness family (the same as the beer). There were other taller buildings from the early 20th c.
Behind it is the Nexen tower (formerly Nova Gas) Its knife edge shape makes it stand out in a mainly square downtown architectural landscape.
Nexen 1
Calgary is slowly developing some unique architecture. The key word i sslowly. The Nexen Building, at one time known as the Nova Building, is one structure that I admire.
I have wanted to do a series of pictures on it for a while. Here is my start.
