Dutch infantrist Living history, in 2008 Dutch and German actors replayed scenes which actually happened in the same places in may 1940 in my birth - and hometown Dordrecht, The Netherlands. All the surroundings you see are nearly exactly the same as they were in 1940. In May 1940 fierce fightings broke out between Dutch soldiers and German paratroopers. Hundreds of Dutch soldiers were killed. But the Germans paid a high price too, their losses were as big as the Dutch ones. This was a bad surprise for the Germans, given their superior equipment and training, and as such a tribute to some fierce Dutch counter- attacks and defence.
