There is a new type of camera to be manufactured based on the “Light field” theory in the US.

The camera is able to capture all light in different focal points and directions in the scene.

Photographer can pick the focus point in the scene after the picture is taken and there is no need for any focusing while taking picture.

On the other hand, I read an article in a UK photo magazine. The author who is a physicist and engineer tested the Nikon D7000 sensor by taking the same night scene picture with ISO 6400 and ISO 100 at the same aperture/shutter speed setting. The ISO 6400 picture was then pushed 6 stops to ISO 100 in processing and the image quality and noise level is found to be at par with the ISO 100 image!!

The conclusion by the author is that the so called ISO-less era will be coming to photography. The selection of ISO and decision about exposure setting is obsolete because you can push or pull the exposure with the modern day sensor without compromise in the image quality. The setting of aperture and shutter speed is more for depth of field and motion blur decision. The ISO setting will be soon out of the scene in photography.

Are we going to have a big change in photography with these no need to focus and ISO-less cameras in the market?
