(17) Canopy Studio This was the first Canopy Studio show I saw. It was in memory of Sam Crowe. I was tucked in a corner, sitting on a pile of mats. My point-n-shoot was loaded with Fuji 1600 film, no flash. I saw so many women I recognized, and I had no idea they were aerial dancers. It was a beautiful show. I've seen many more since. Canopy Drag 11th June 2011. My first attempt at tree canopy drag ( ICM). Im not 100% happy with the shot, but now i have more of an idea on camera settings,for my next attenpt. LED lights from the 1960s were restricted to electronic toys. electroluminescent lights are the cheapest: they draw little power and are durable plastics. people are going blind. bad computer text, sabotaged text in print, terrible video products, all are part of an attack. fake pricing reduces our access to light (10 dollar bulbs in USA) or to our own structure projects. controllers of resources must be safe. people can not operate services that are negative and dangerous. the present government has had their option and failed. we suffer and die from what they do. I read an article a while ago (in Medieval Clothing and Textiles, I think) about how lavish beds and bed coverings were used as showpieces in Italian homes, and were often larger than necessary and never slept in. Apparently this one though was made as a sort of publicity stunt, which worked, because Shakespeare had heard of it and made a "pop culture reference" to it in Twelfth Night. The display for the bed was actually very good with info on and samples of the various layers of bedding. It is a rope bed with several layers of thin mattresses stuffed variously with unspun wool and down; there are linen sheets, wool blankets, a silk quilt stuffed with yet more unspun wool, and a coverlet with gold threads woven in. There are also canopies made of a wool textile called "say". Since no records exist of the bedding for this bed, they used records of other bedding from the same vintage to recreate all of this, right down to colours that were preferred for bedding in that particular part of the country. A research inspiration to us all. Back to Sonnenberg - Mary Thompson's Bedroom Here you see the canopy bed that was in Mary Thompson's bedroom. Following her husband Frederick's death in 1899, Mary Thompson moved to this bedroom, which originally overlooked the Old-Fashioned Garden. This room had its own bath, fireplace and balcony. There was also a large walk-in closet with built-in shelves and drawers. Located in the mansion, on the second floor, at the Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park at 151 Charlotte Street in Canandaigua, NY. What a difference the rain makes After a day of hard rain, everything seems to be greener and more lush. The trees once again form a canopy over this lovely path. The trilliums are fading at the edge of the woods, but everywhere I looked this morning there were new flowers and plants, and many plants that seem to have suddenly grown several inches overnight. Nothing about this photo can capture the lovely damp smell of the earth and woods though. With a cool steady wind, the mosquitoes were kept at bay, and Zuni and I enjoyed a wonderful extended walk. The gold can often look a combination of gold and silver depending on the light conditions of the day. Apropos the Gold Winter colour, in his talk to the special enthusiasts gathering, Dr. Steve Johnson, LB's Environmental Manager said when they tried to register the colour there was some confusion as to what shade this is. It's seemingly a metallic cross between gold and silver. Earlier ideas to promote more green on the livery (as used on the eco-Green Darts for Service 36) were not taken further as the feeling was to promote the new Lothian colours as strongly as possible. I love the gradual returning to curved features and perhaps another move away from straight right-angles. Note all the curves on the upper windows and the swept-back window at the upper front. These buses are going to look just terrific and Edinburgh can be proud to have them. Who? Still life for a theme... Ha! Using layers, no less. I haven't worked with graphics/photo software in many many years. This is actually how I got into the IT group as my last 15/20 years have been spent. I was darned good at desktop publishing at one time. In fact, I started my work life as a type setter and moved into newspaper layout. Lots of water has flown under the bridge since I could read a tape from a typesetting machine by looking at the dots that were punched out. O Sudario esta guardado fora das vistas do publico na capela da catedral de Sao Joao Baptista em Turim, Italia. O sudario e uma peca rectangular de linho com 4,4 metros de comprimento e 1,1 de largura. O tecido mostra as imagens frontal e dorsal de um homem nu, com as maos pousadas sobre as partes baixas, consistentes com a projeccao ortogonal, sem a projecao referente a parte lateral do corpo humano. As duas imagens apontam em sentidos opostos e unem-se na zona central do pano. O homem representado no sudario tem barba e cabelo comprido pela altura dos ombros, separado por uma risca ao meio. Tem um corpo bem proporcionado e musculado, com cerca de 1,75 de altura. A 28 de Maio de 1898, o fotografo italiano Secondo Pia tirou a primeira fotografia ao sudario e constatou que o negativo da fotografia assemelhava-se a uma imagem positiva do homem, o que significava que a imagem do sudario era, em si, um negativo. Esta descoberta lancou o mote para uma discussao cientifica que ainda hoje permanece aberta: o que representa o sudario? As primeiras referencias a um possivel sudario surgem na propria Biblia. O Evangelho de Mateus (27:59) refere que Jose de Arimateia envolveu o corpo de Jesus Cristo com "um pano de linho limpo". Joao (19:38-40) tambem descreve o evento, e relata que os apostolos Pedro e Joao, ao visitar o tumulo de Jesus apos a ressurreicao, encontraram os lencois dobrados (Jo 20:6-7). Embora depois desta descricao evangelica o sudario so tenha feito sua aparicao definitiva no seculo XIV, para nao mais ser perdido de vista, existem alguns relatos anteriores que contem indicacoes bastante consistentes sobre a existencia de um tal tecido em tempos mais antigos. A primeira mencao nao-evangelica a ele data de 544, quando um pedaco de tecido mostrando uma face que se acreditou ser a de Jesus foi encontrado escondido sob uma ponte em Edessa. Suas primeiras descricoes mencionam um pedaco de pano quadrado, mostrando apenas a face, mas Sao Joao Damasceno, em sua obra antiiconoclasta "Sobre as imagens sagradas", falando sobre a mesma reliquia, a descreve como uma faixa comprida de tecido, embora disesse que se tratava de uma imagem transferida para o pano quando Jesus ainda estava vivo. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market. In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. It's very light yet pretty warm piece.I used the softest nonalllergenic acrylic yarn, no worries about wool allergies with this capelet. It is so soft you can wear it even over strapless dress. This capelet will look lovely when paired with tank and jeans . I was inspired by yarn which I used especially by its color.I chose an absolutely beautiful shade of mist or light linen whatever you call it. I used a knitting design with a lot of details so your capelet looks like vintage piece. I added a collar which you can wear it in few different ways also it will keep your pretty neck warm. I adorned the capelet with four gorgeous buttons . MEASUREMENT: The capelet measures 15 inches (38 cm) in width from bottom to neckline Collar 5 inches (12 cm) high 18.5 inches (47 cm) in circumference at neckline 45 inches (114 cm) at bottom. Stripe! Study! This has been my mindless car-knitting for the past bit. It's SE "Orchard" Romney and Malabrigo Lace "Green Apple". The contrast - while knitting - between the 2 fibers was pretty interesting, but upon blocking the Romney softened up a bit more, and I feel it provides some much needed drape and body to the otherwise weightless malabrigo. I'm pretty happy with it, even though it is all crazy colors and such. Stripes Much of our furniture and linens are around 40 years old or more. Our couch is draped in sheets, including these pink and blue striped ones from the 60s -- I grew up with them back in Brooklyn. Also on the couch -- and the only item I moved for this shot -- is the decades-newer pot-holder, which came down from Massachusetts. Childhood and adulthood in concert.
