How to Troubleshoot Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8 Digital Camera

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8 digital camera has features for both beginning and experienced photographers. It features a 3x zoom lens, specialized auto-focus, a two-battery system that offers increased battery life and nine-pixel readout for movies. All of these features are great, but if you have trouble with the Panasomic Lumix during an important moment, it's important to know how to resolve the problem immediately so you can get back to shooting. Many Lumix problems involving the power, photo quality and flash can be diagnosed and fixed quickly.

Battery and Power Problems
1:Reinstall the battery. Match the positive and negative ends of the battery to the positive and negative signs on the battery compartment. Replace or recharge the battery if it is not sufficiently charged.

2:Press the shutter button halfway down to remove the camera from power save or economy mode.

3:Turn on the power save mode to prevent the battery from running out when the camera is not in use.

Focus and Flash Problems
1:Insert a memory card if you are unable to take a picture. Make sure there is memory left on the card by checking the LCD for the number of remaining exposures. Delete pictures or insert a new memory card if necessary.

2:Rotate the mode dial to correspond to the distance of the subject if the camera cannot focus on the subject. Select macro mode for close-ups, scene mode for distance shots and normal for photos between those two ranges.

3:Press the shutter halfway down to refocus the picture. Turn the camera off and on if this does not work.

4:Move further from the subject if the subject is closer than 50 centimeters from the lens. Take the photo again.

5:Place the camera on a tripod or hold it steady in both hands if the picture turns out blurry.

6:Clean off the lens with a soft cloth if the picture is blurry or filmy. Retake the picture.

7:Adjust the flash setting if the flash does not work. Select "auto flash" mode to allow the camera to determine when a flash is needed. Select "forced on" to make sure the flash goes off if your subject is standing near fluorescent lights or is back-lit.

8:Select "forced off" mode if the flash goes off when it is not needed. Select "auto" mode to allow the camera to adjust the flash as necessary.
