I heard them shouting through the muffling canvas of the bag, and then I was being impersonally hauled to my feet by my wrists, my arms wrenched up behind my back, my shoulders screaming.
We should be eternally vigilant against attempts to check the expression of opinions that we loathe.
History is indeed little more than the register of the crimes, follies and misfortunes of mankind.
Therefore search and see if there is not some place where you may invest your humanity.
I lived what most people call the good life. I was happy, but deep inside I always felt that, with the short amount of time we are given to live and love in this world, we spend too much time loving things instead of people.
No matter what I do, no matter how predictable I try to make my life, it will not be any more predictable than the rest of the world. Which is chaotic.
Never let the demands of tomorrow interfere with the pleasures and excitement of today.
