COMFORT BICYCLE SEAT - COMFORT BICYCLE
Comfort Bicycle Seat - Chopper Style Bike - Wheel Bike Rack Comfort Bicycle Seat
The wife's first time on the Dahon Curve We finally found the time to go cycling together. I bought her a Giro Indicator helmet (orange and white) on the way home from work, at the bicycle shop that closes at midnight, and after some adjustments to the height of the seat, we set out to ride to the interchange for some supper. I rode the Specialized mountain bike and followed her from behind. She had a minor fall from being spooked by a car coming from the back and jammed her brakes (just as I was telling her not to jam on the...). Just some minor scrapes and a bruised chest from hitting the handlebars on her way flying forward. Good thing I chose 12 midnight and a quiet, almost-car-less back road to get her used to riding with me. The bike is just nice for a small person her size. Her seat could be higher (you want to be able to extend your leg almost straight when your pedal is at the lowest point) but she was not experienced enough and wanted to be able touch the ground with her feet, so I adjusted it to her comfort level. We rode to the MacDonald's and had a drink and a cake, then rode home slowly. Looking forward to riding with the wife more. Batavus Personal Delivery Bike with Bobike Seats at Flying Pigeon LA This bicycle, a three-speed Batavus Personal Delivery, comes in either glossy black or this dutch orange. It is very comfortable to ride - but practical too! This particular bike is fully kitted out - it has both a BoBike Mini (in the front, w. windshield accessory (naturally!)) and a Bobike Jr. in the back (for a big kid up to 75 lbs.). It is designed for this type of load - and so it is also made with an extra long rear carrier, which you can see is being used to carry a set of Basil Basonyl panniers. The retail value of this bicycle is a little bit over $1,600 - but if you buy it as you see here $1,549 plus tax and it's yours. The practical value of a bike like this, of course, is off the charts. Imagine a service that would keep you happy and fit, keep your kids happy and close to you while you take care of life's errands! That is what the Personal Delivery is all about. Disc Brake At school one of the few lessons I loved was Technical Drawing..... nothing beats a bit of orthogonal or isometric projection! The teacher was a great photographer of aircraft and sporting events and he very occaionally showed us some of his slides. I remember that for the "O" level exam one of the compulsory parts was to draw a wheelbarrow freehand! Not too easy! Your task is to draw this disc brake from memory! ...Perhaps not... It is strange how an object seen in the park can bring back such happy memories. To most people it was just a bike parked against a young yew tree. I hope you don't mind me sharing these few thoughts with you from the windmills of my mind... Disc Brake Upgrade Time to say goodbye to my Rolf Dolomite wheels, and upgrade to discs. New Strida 5.0 Collapsible Bikes Mark Sanders, Strida 5.0, foldable bikes, collapsible bikes, green commuting, eco-friendly transportation, hybrid commute, Areaware, strida3.jpg The sleek form and clever functionality of British designer Mark Sanders’ foldable bikes have been earning accolades in Europe for over a decade. The latest, the Strida 5.0, is now available in the US bringing with it a new hybrid commute sensibility that is rolling in praise. More than just a utilitarian part of greener transport, this bike is an exercise in cool. Mark Sanders, Strida 5.0, foldable bikes, collapsible bikes, green commuting, eco-friendly transportation, hybrid commute, Areaware, strida1.jpg What sets the Strida 5.0 apart from other collapsables is its tripod-like frame which folds easily into parallel tubes. Unfolded, the tubes form a triangle – handlebars and wheels occupy the three points and the adjustable seat slides along one side. The unique, patented frame streamlines the design and makes fold-up quick and easy - Strida boasts a six second shift from expanded bike to folded traffic-averting accessory. With the commuter user in mind, the 5.0 rolls with a silent, clean Kevlar belt – no greasy pant legs – and the folded design manages the sidewalk stretch with parallel tires that make it an agreeable sidekick while strolling. Although still in the single gear folder category, the bike has evolved from the earlier 3.2 version with tougher, lighter components that don’t need much attention - just tires and disc brakes need maintenance. + Strida International + $799 at Areaware (US) Collapsible Para Bike What a weird-looking bike, any info on this would be very much appreciated Related topics: bmx bike 20 inch bike rack for suv hitch specialized balance bikes fuji aloha triathlon bike bicycle saddle seat where to buy a pocket bike painting bike wheels |

249/365 Picture info: ISO 100, 1/60, f/3.50, 50mm, Av, flash A friend of mine's boyfriend had his bicycle stolen last week. I remembered that a neighbor had a bike he tried to give me a few weeks ago when we were looking to upgrade Haley's bike. I mentioned it to my friend and she said they'd take it. Moving onto today, I got the bike from my neighbor's house and though it is old and unused, it is functional and that is what's most important to my friend. Trouble is, her boyfriend is male, of course, and this Schwinn Varsity 10 speed (I think it's 10 speed!) is for the females. It's powder blue, has the old, OLD school shifters (see below right of the speedo) and has the slanted down main tube to allow for lady-like mounting and dismounting of the bicycle. Having said all that, I think it would be cool to know the story of this bike. The 367 miles on the odometer intrigue me. Were they neighborhood miles? After all, these neighbors have lived on my street since before my house (or I) even existed! So their daughter rode around here, I suppose. I wonder if the bike was a part of her, like Haley's bike is becoming a part of her? Every chance my kids get these days, they're on their bikes. It's pretty awesome to see (though nerve-wracking at times as well). Anyway, I have some other pictures of this bike to send to my friend. I hope they take it because I don't want it cluttering up my garage. With some TLC, this bike, vintage as it may be, will make someone happy. Schwinn Bike Computer Moderately functional and modestly helpful. I can't seem to get the Trip odometer to reset every time I take a trip... it seems to be cumulative. Not great for people like me, who hate math. HOW TO PUMP A ROAD BIKE TIRE - A ROAD BIKE TIRE
How To Pump A Road Bike Tire - Bell Stowaway Bicycle Seat Bag How To Pump A Road Bike Tire
Mark Miller Isle of Man TT Update #10 photo courtesy of John O'Keefe First Superbike race in the bag!! After an hour and forty-five minutes later, two pit stops, maximum physical effort, one really close call over a 100mph+ jump, I've come.... 11th! Would you believe that on a true stock Superstock bike, a front treaded DOT tire, rear slick (harder than before), after all the dust settled I came, are you ready for this?, .5, 1/5 of one second, after the entire race, out of 10th overall. Aarrgh!! :) It's all good. My bike was running out of gas near the end of each second lap, in a six lap race, so I was 'jug jug jug' for the last few miles before each pit stop and the final checkered flag. This cost us a top ten. We could have also easily made up another 1/2 second if we poured the fuel a little faster on the refills on each pit stop. I lost time in the first lap trying to get me head back up to speed, I was also getting some dangerous arm pump from the bumpy surfaces. I got stronger every lap, strange. Many of the men just in front of me got slower and I zapped them. Heh heh. I was basically the first Superstock bike directly behind all the full factory Superbikes and top real road racers in the world. I'm happy enough, albeit gutted on the NEAR top ten. There were a couple fallers near the end of the race, two of them I had to swerve aggressively to avoid debris and bodies on the racing line. Ugly ugly stuff. There were so many fans lining the track, a truly awesome sight. A beautiful day, it seemed there were 600 people in each of the 266 corners. Sometimes they wave frantically as you go wizzing by and you wonder what famous dude is just on your arse. That, or are you really doing good enough to deserve such a thing? Apparently, an American dicing for a top ten got a few of the tipsy spectators to egg me onward. Cool. The two remaining American newcomers finished last and second to last. Not sure why. But they came home safe, good on them. The race was very very difficult physically. Riders were wet from sweat at the end, lots of hugs from their mechanics as they pulled into the pits, thanking them for not hurting themselves. I learned a long time ago that the team members are effected greatly when their rider and friend get hurt or killed. The TT is a selfish affair, on the rider's part. That's all I got. Pretty happy, with that slight 'err' for not finding one lousy half of a second in to hours for the top ten. But to be fair, you're never really happy, are you? If it's not a top ten, it's a podium. If it's not a podium, it's a win. If it's not a win, it's a new track record. Racers. Moto Grand Prix World Champion Valentino Rossi was here today with great media fan fare. He was on the radio and nightly television show today....Gobsmacked. As you can imagine his high-pitched clown-like Italian voice, "It's just a, ah, just incredible. I cannot believe it. It's more than scary. I'm so now impressed with John McGuinness for winning. He iz, a, ah a Gladiator. Completely. Unbelievable." Big grins from all within ear shot of his words. We're on for our first electric bike practice on the morrow, then our all important Superstock race later in the evening, which my main bike is optimum for. Wish us luck, I, want, a, friggin, top ten finish. Let's do it. Mark Ps, I sar our MotoCzysz electric bike last night in person for the first time. Seriously, it's beyond expectations. The owner asked me not to tell anyone they've spent $xxx, xxx on it thus far. So, don't tell anyone. Holy hell. I don't have time now to describe everything that's cool about it, just believe me when I say it's clean, sano, perfect, modern, gorgeous, intimidating, compact, expensive, hopefully functional, custom, the works. If it finishes we should win the first ever "eGrand Prix" ever. First practice, first ride ever, tomorrow afternoon. Oh, and he 'started it' up for me this afternoon, it sounded like a loud Tie Fighter from Star Wars roaring through space - just sitting there on it's rear swingarm stand. Yikes! Will it be rideable? (This photo was provided courtesy of IOMTT photographer John O'Keefe. I asked him how fat Mark was going here and John replied: "At this point they are averaging 140MPH and slowing down to about 45MPH for the bridge, then accelerating to 190MPH on the straight past the Sulby Glen Hotel." As Mark would say...FOOK! Anatomy of a Day Ride Here's my aluminum road bike, equipped for light travel in semi-remote areas with deep night riding. Powacycle Edinburgh This is my new electric bike. Or should I say relatively new as it's now coming up for two months old. It's modelled along the lines of a modern Mountain Bike but differs in that it also sitted with a 200w motor in the rear hub. It weighs in at whopping 38kg and can travel at speeds of upto 20mph (oficially its limited to 15mph/25kph but does slightly more than this) with electric assist. It can also be pedalled like a normal bike and has a six-speed deraileur gear arrangement. There is full supension on both the front and rear so it is a very smooth ride. Overall its an expensive piece of kit but is well worth the price. I'm not a lazy bugger as such for having one. My health conditon means that riding a normal bike over long distances (which I do regularly) causes me a lot of bother healthwise, so this is the ideal solution for me. Although it is motorised, it is classed as normal cycle. Therefore, there are no requirements for Tax, Insurance, MOT, having a license or even any requirements for wearing a helmet. You pays your money and you can just ride them away. As with a normal cycle you are required to display lights back and front during hours of darkness and the usual reflectors front, back and on wheels are also required. Photo: "LIFE IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY" Once upon a time, many moons ago, back in the day, somewhere over the rainbow, way up north where the cottonfields grow, our narrator sold an ounce of hashish, gram by gram, to some of his fellow students at the effete liberal Eastern urban University where he attended classes. Or perhaps it was Play-doh colored with tobacco juice that he sold---no matter---the buyers seemed happy, no one asked for his (they were all male) money back. The hashish/PlayDoh had been fronted to him by his friend Dave, a gungho engineering major who had channeled his talents into making elaborate waterpipes, and who all-too-soon (to the chagrin of his blue-collar parents, no doubt) dropped out of school and headed back, or slunk back, to New Jersey. Somehow, all the monetary proceeds from the sale of the hashish/Play Doh ended up with Dave, and now Dave found himself owing our narrator his share, when, low and behold, out-of-the-blue, surprise no end, who coulda thunk it, the money was gone. Nevertheless, our narrator never really feared that Dave would welsh on the debt, and, soon enough, Dave proposed a solution. He didn't have any folding cash, all the cabbage had been cooked, consumed, and excreted, but he had this other item of value, this Italian worldbeater, this exotic Ducati motorcycle. This exotic Ducati motorcycle was worth at least as much as the amount owed, and in lieu of the green, our narrator could be the proud owner of this splendid specimen. Being mucho verde himself, not-overly-worldly-wise, a tad soapy behind the ears, our narrator took the bike. How the bike actually came into our narrator's possession he doesn't remember. Where and when he discovered that the bike didn't actually run he doesn't recollect. In fact, our narrator never actually got the bike running, our narrator didn't, but he did manage to get it out to the house of his great friend, mentor, father-figure-extraordinaire, Mr. Merrill, and Mr. Merrill the great tinkerer (he once took his Alfa Romeo apart and had it lying out in his front yard, piece by piece) Mr. Merrill got the bike running. This would have been on some weekend, when our narrator had taken the train out to the suburbs, where Mr. Merrill and his lovely wife Stuartie (she had been born in Virginia, and her parents, perhaps disappointed that she wasn't a boy, had nevertheless named her after the local hero, Jeb Stuart) had a house with those hot water heat pipes that creak wonderously as they're coming on. When the exotic Ducati motorcycle was up and running (sputtering, wheezing, fiffully alive after an ether transfusion, if memory serves) Mr. Merrill took it for a spin in the neighborhood, and when he came back to the house, he pronounced it worthy (most probably) and said, (most probably), "Why don't you try it." And so it was, not half-a-mile away, that our narrator found himself over-running a stop sign and landing in a ditch, uninjured, but certainly not ego-fortified. To make a long story less-long than it otherwise would be, soon enough our narrator found himself dropped out of school and slinking, himself, down to North Carolina, where he helped himself to the hospitality, and discomfort, of his relatives. Somehow, he managed to take the again non-functioning (its odomoter now had an added ten, maybe twenty, at most fifty miles) Ducati with him. And really, by any lights, that should be the end of our story. Our narrator moved about from place to place, Uncle's house to Aunt's house to apartment complex to apartment complex, and everywhere he went, the Ducati with its damaged aluminum cylinder block (it ran on one huge cylinder) seemed to go. When he picked up from Charlotte and lit out for Greensboro (now with college degree in hand), there went the Ducati with him, first to a tree-shrouded older apartment complex where our narrator shot the rat with the 22, and then on to an apartment in a house on Tate Street, not far from the campus of UNC-G, the house from which the well-stoned crew set-out for their skinny-dipping excursion to the city reservoir, where the lightening bugs flashed in the trees on the far shore, not thousands, or tens of thousands, but hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of lightening bugs, flashing on at the base of the trees on the far shore, and then, like bulbs on a theatre marquee, flashing up the string, thousands of strings of lightening bugs, up and up and up, until they peaked at the top of the trees and started over again at the bottom. A more wondorous sight there never was, unless it was Julie, lithesome naked Julie, climbing the ladder of the brick tower where the water ran out on its journey to the filtration plant, where the water was purified, as if it needed to be purified, after lithesome naked Julie had swum in it. There was an empty spot down in the basement of that house on Tate Street, not far from the furnace, and there the Ducati sat. And by any lights, that really, honest and truly, shoul built Specialized A-1 fast lightweight aluminum 21-speed with sweet shifters and low low miles I need to sell this bike. I rode it for under two months before I faced up to the reality that it doesn't fit me. Been stored in the basement not getting used at all on my trainer ever since.
