BICYCLE DOG CARRIER

This original Classic Lotus Supreme Columbus SL, a Beautiful Road Bike was purchased at a local bike shop in Maryland in 1987.

I have been looking and researching for Lotus Supreme and it seems not a whole lot information has been collected and archived over the years. Anyhow, I am sharing my photos for affectionados out there.

The frame is not especially light, at 4lbs, 11oz. The fork weighs in (uncut) at 1lb 11oz, for a total frameset weight of 6lbs, 6oz. (2885g). All in, as shown, the bike is 20lbs, 8oz.

I built the wheels with Sun ME13II 32h rims, DT Revolution spokes and Superbe Pro hubs. The rear hub has an OLD of 130, and I've mounted a 13x26 Sachs/Aris 8-spd freewheel. It would have been easy to build the bike with a 21st-century gruppo from Campy, SRAM or Shimano, but I wanted to keep it looking mostly traditional.

I really like the stainless steel water bottle cages, only 34g and available for a reasonable price from Velo Orange.
