ape cola/logo/packaging
I decided to design a logo and sample packaging for an imaginary cola company. I chose the name Ape Cola and the strapline ‘the evolution of cola’, the project is in the early ideas stage.
With the thinking that it is unlikely that any drinks company will ever be able to compete wth coca cola or pepsi. I wanted to create an environmentally friendly cola ‘brand’ as I’m not aware of one existing. To do this, I am using black and white colour scheme through all materials, using FSC Graded paper for labels and advertising online. I used a cartoon/early digitaI style ape in the logo to create a company character. For the packaging I used a functional design. This will create a refreshing, clear, easy to read label. The bottles will be made with recycled plastic.
Another way this packaging could function is using refillable bottles by having a dispenser in-store. This would allow for one bottle that could be filled with any amount of cola up to 2 litres. The nutritional information could be displayed for all possible volumes on the dispenser. This would save money in the long run and give the customer freedom of choice (it will be a pay at the pump dispenser, priced per 10ml).
18/365: "And this is funny, why?"
Here is the highlight of the day, I think. A simple story. It sounds like a car outside is waiting for someone. I can hear something loud enough to make out some words. The words are distorted by volume, but I'm bright enough to figure out that this is the news! Some stupid (but well-informed) person is out there CRAVING the news at the kind of volume I would pump Sabbath at, maybe even louder. He was still out there news cranked for another 5 to 10 minutes! And this just cracked me up! I had to talk about it. So, the picture is a cheat, only my finger in the shot, but it tells a funny tale of a man who really loves, or rocks out to his news. Maybe he's easing into some hip hop grooves to it? I don't know. I don't care. That would be disgusting. I'm not a news or talk radio guy, sorry. It bores me. I get my news online, and piece the rest together from the backs of sugar packets.
