Too Close to Home (Women of Justice Series #1)
Samantha Cash is the FBI's secret weapon. Her methods are invisible, and she never stops until the case is closed. When missing teens begin turning up dead in a small Southern town, Samantha is assigned to help local chief Connor Wolfe find the killer. And he has two problems with that. There's her faith--in God and herself. And then there's the fact that she looks exactly like his late wife. As they get close to an answer, the case becomes personal. The killer seems to be taking an interest in Connor's 16-year-old daughter, who thinks her dad is getting way too protective. Can't a girl just have some fun? Too Close to Home ratchets up the suspense with each page, and will have readers cheering for the characters they love as justice is served and love grows even in the face of danger. Read this one with the lights on!

The Amoeba Engulfs
My 11:32 AM departure was cancelled. United auto-booked me on their 7:30 PM departure. Uhm WTF? 2 hours in line for the customer service desk while burning up the cell minutes talking to travel and customer service agents, and I had an alternative. Of sorts. UE to Seattle, Air Canada to Vancouver. The only drawback is a 3:30 PM departure. Will we make it before that wall of snow hits the airport?
We were on the runway out East of the airport on our takeoff roll as the terminal here was swallowed by The Amoeba. Whew!
I checked the 7:32PM flight's status from subsequent airports and my hotel. "Delayed" for a while. Then "Door Closed". For 3 hours. Yow!
Met another CanSec attendee who hadn't jumped from the 7:32PM reschedule onto -anything- else heading out. He said it was about as unpleasant as it sounded. At least he made it to Vancouver, at about 2AM.
Lines of Lines
We had a nice blizzard here that has just moved on to the east. There is about 2 feet of new snow in my area and even more to the west at higher elevations. A steady north wind accompanied most of the snowfall, so there are many large snow drifts in the area. This was Fall's way of saying goodbye. The Denver airport will be closed until Friday afternoon - the longest closure in its history (about 45 hours). There were about 5000 people stranded at the airport. Many of those have been able to get to hotels today. Perhaps you know someone that's stuck here.

Welcome to the childhood of Catherine McClure Gildiner. It is the mid-1950s in Lewiston, New York, a sleepy town near Niagara Falls. Divorce is unheard of, mothers wear high heels to the beauty salon, and television has only just arrived.
At the tender age of four, Cathy accompanies Roy, the deliveryman at her father's , on his routes. She shares some of their memorable deliveries-sleeping pills to Marilyn Monroe (in town filming Niagara), sedatives to Mad Bear, a violent Tuscarora chief, and fungus cream to Warty, the gentle operator of the town dump. As she reaches her teenage years,
Cathy's irrepressible spirit spurs her from dangerous sled rides that take her "too close to the Falls" to tipsy dances with the town priest.
"Anyone who appreciates a good story, well told, will find it in Too Close to the Falls." (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
"Gildiner beautifully portrays her outrageous youth through the innocent, yet sometimes frighteningly worldly eyes of a child." (The Quill & Quire)
