Las Vegas Chiropractic - Neck Pain Chiropractor
Working in a Las Vegas chiropractic office, a question I get asked all the time is, "what is a good exercise for my low back". Now, after you've suffered a low-back injury, and have visited a Las Vegas chiropractic office, I don't recommend doing exercises where you bend your back. It's important to find chiropractic exercises where your back is able to be kept straight. The best exercise that I've found for that is called the plank exercise. This isn't solely for the low-back, it's also for the abdominals, and the entire core muscle area. I'm going to explain to you how to do this exercise.
Get down on your elbows and your toes. Get your elbows in line with your shoulders. Start on your knees, and then lift up your hips and hold yourself up on your toes. When you're in this position you want to keep your head nice and straight, looking down towards your hands. Don't look up, and don't look down, that will cause too much stress on your neck. Another part of the exercise - don't lift up your butt, or dip down because it will hurt your low-back. Just start on your knees, come up onto your toes, keep your body straight, and your head straight forward.
That's how you do the plank exercise to strengthen your core muscles to stabilize your low-back and keep you from having this injury come back again in the future. With this chiropractic exercise, you want to be able to hold it as long as you can - work up to where you're able to hold it for at least a minute, and that's when you know that your core muscles are much stronger.
If you're currently seeing a chiropractor in Las Vegas, and you're wondering about how long it should take before begin to experience positive results (where the level of pain is beginning to subside) I can tell you, as a Las Vegas chiropractor (unless you've been involved in a serious accident) 80% - 90% of patients will begin to see positive results within two weeks after seeing a chiropractor Benjamin Altadonna.
If you're not receiving results within two weeks, it might be time for you to ask your chiropractor what his expectations for you are. Any reputable chiropractor will be able to give you a time-line or plan for what to expect during the course of the treatments, and you want to make sure that your chiropractor is helping you get better as soon as possible.
As a chiropractor, I can tell you that in a two week window (from beginning through the second week) you should definitely begin to notice improvements. And if the chiropractor that you are seeing is not able to give you a reasonable explanation, it might be time for you to consider a second opinion from another chiropractor in Las Vegas.
People suffering from neck pain in Las Vegas commonly ask, "how do I stretch my neck". Most people in Las Vegas have neck pain, and that neck pain is usually in the back of the neck, and so that's the area that they typically stretch. However, there are muscles all around our neck - on the front, on the side, and on the back - and it is very important to stretch all the muscles in the neck. The best way to do that is to sit in a chair where you can grab the edge of the chair. Grab the edge of the chair and just lean to the opposite side. The hand that is hold the chair is just holding your shoulder down. Lean to the opposite side and tilt your head to that side. This part of the stretch is going to stretch the middle muscles (the side muscles of the neck). While you're in this position, look down and you'll start feeling it in the back of your neck - which is probably where your pain is. Hold that for 20 seconds, and then look up (still leaning to the side and tilting your head to the side) Benjamin Altadonna. That's going to stretch the front muscles in your neck.
Hold each of those positions for about 20 seconds. 20 seconds on the side, 20 seconds looking down, and 20 seconds looking up. Do that on both sides. This will help you stretch your neck muscles very well and get rid of the neck pain Las Vegas residents usually have.
