Oh, David Cronenberg  you arrogant ponce. 

In todays Star, hes quoted as saying his 2005 film A History of Violence was snubbed at the Oscars because Hollywoods "anti-Bush, anti-conservative" elements felt the films message was too subtle.

Umm, how about because the film was an overlong, contrived, horribly acted piece of absolute crap?  The entire time while watching this film I felt I was being hit over the head with a frying pan; it was like look  theres some imagery! or This part is important  you can tell by the way Ive framed it  pay attention!  All of the actors were atrocious, except Viggo Mortensen, who was only somewhat atrocious; ironically, the worst of them all, William Hurt, was actually nominated for eastern airlines flight 401 Oscar.  It was an incredibly constructed and heavy handed film; I dont understand why all the critics went nuts for it, but I guess maybe it shows the Academy knows a little bit about what its doing  except for giving Crash best picture (I think it might have been a vote split between Brokeback Mountain and Munich that caused that to happen).

Speaking of Crash, Cronenberg also says in the article that hes pissed off at Paul Haggis for using the title Crash, which was eastern airlines flight 401 title of Cronenbergs 1996 film.  Well, gee David, why do you have sole rights on this title?  What about the 1974 Norweigen film of the same name?  Did you consult with Rolf Clemens beforehand?  Or the 1978 made-for-TV movie about the downing of Eastern Airlines flight 401, starring William Shatner?  (For the purposes of brevity, eastern airlines flight 401 leave out the 1922 comedy eastern airlines flight 401 directed by Fred Hibbard).

I think maybe hes become a little too self-important  anytime somebody starts moaning about how they deserved an award over somebody else, you know theyre approaching the beginning of the end of their respectibility.
