Chest freezer temperature - Absorption cycle refrigeration Chest Freezer Temperature
Phase 2b: serious chilling action! Once it was REALLY working, I set the temp to 32 deg. F. Initially, I had a two degree deadband, but it takes time for the RTD (temperature sensor) to get as cold as the beer near the fermenter walls. When the pump was turned off, the temp would continue to drop another two degrees before it stabilized. That meant that the pump was running a LONG time (and all my moist basement air was condensing on any exposed fittings) and then the pump was off for a long time. I was most worried about the latter - in case some of the glycol-water mixture froze in the lines... So I changed the deadband to 0.5 degrees. Worked like a charm. Unfortunately, the beer tastes like crap. (Slight band-aid character - I obviously picked up some wild yeast...) ferment-o-rator-montage The ferment-o-rator! Repurposed an old chest freezer into a temperature controlled fermentation cabinet. Will allow me to ferment and bottle condition some beer over the winter Similar posts: refrigerated cargo containers small chest freezer portable refrigerator car thermo scientific revco freezer rangemaster fridge water leaking in refrigerator vaccine fridge refrigerated and frozen foods magazine air conditioning and refrigeration courses |
