Perched midway up the side of a Saint Louis brewery sits the crafty Reynard the Fox, devouring a choice cut of meat and a stout mug of ale.

Tales of the adventures of Reynard the Fox are old and plentiful, developing first in the 1175, Le Roman de Renart by Pierre de Saint Cloud. Fabliaux explores the characters of bawdy French fabliaux, fairy tales, and folk lore, with a keen interest in the Reynard fables, reconsidering them throughout history. Represented in this series by animal silhouettes, paintings of architectural sculpture, decorative concrete works, and re-imagined as human figures.

Summoned to the court of king Noble, the Lion, Reynard is asked to answer charges brought against him by Isengrim the Wolf.

All works in this series are painted from photographs, collages, and re-imagined encyclopedia illustrations. Each are painted with acrylic paint on hand-built wood panels. Fabliaux is the forth series of paintings developing the use of such techniques proceeded by The Arcana (2005), Tzolkin (2007), and The Ragnarok Project (2009).
