I purchased this motorized Tokina 12-24mm f/4 DX Mk II for Nikon mount last summer. I am now selling this lens, because I would like to purchase a professional Nikkor lens close to that focal range. This lens is in pristine condition, and the Mk II version had just come out when I purchased (the difference between the first and second versions is that the one I'm selling has an internal motor almost as fast as AF-S).

** This will work on all Nikon DX cameras and will work on FX cameras but will vignette or have to be used in DX-crop mode. This lens was more geared towards Nikon D40/D40X/D60/D3000/D5000 users but works perfectly on D70/D80/D90/D200/D300/D300S.

My feelings about this lens:

This Tokina has served me well for the wide end and will perform similar to the Nikkor 12-24mm. The internal motor is almost as fast as AF-S, and it is ultra quiet! It has a smooth and barely audible whisking sound to it during autofocus! I am only selling it, because I'm selling all my third party lenses and have my eyes set on a pro Nikkor 17-35mm. I don't really need 12mm for what I do. Only gripe I have is that the Built-In Motor can sometimes hunt for focus in low light, but that's because this is not meant to be a low light lens with the constant f/4 aperture. I'd be happy keeping this for years to come if I wasn't so interested in completely overhauling my lens lineup.

With generous amounts of good luck and good timing, 50 First Dates set an all-time box-office record for the opening weekend of a romantic comedy; whether it deserved such a bonanza is another issue altogether. It's a sweet-natured vehicle for sweet-natured stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, and their track record with The Wedding Singer no doubt factors in its lowbrow appeal. But while the well-matched lovebirds wrestle with a gimmicky plot (she has no short-term memory, so he has to treat every encounter as their first), director Peter Segal (who directed Sandler in Anger Management) ignores the intriguing potential of their predicament (think Memento meets Groundhog Day) and peppers the proceedings with the kind of juvenile humor that Sandler fans have come to expect. The movie sneaks in a few heartfelt moments amidst its inviting Hawaiian locations, and that trained walrus is charmingly impressive, but you can't quite shake the feeling that too many good opportunities were squandered in favor of easy laughs. Like Barrymore's character, you might find yourself forgetting this movie shortly after you've seen it. --Jeff Shannon

For centuries opera companies have mesmerized audiences with their elaborately costumed and made-up characters and the pageantry of their productions combining music and voice with dance and gesture. Because of its venerable tradition, many of the operas have historical and military themes, which are still performed today. As in the past, the emphasis in these productions is not on scenery or props but on the elaborate costumes and makeup worn by the leading characters, who display a variety of acting styles, and the best known are the Peking, the Cantonese, and Shanghai's Yue Operas, which are featured in this photographic book. Jessica Tan Gudnason's stunning portraits look more like painted sculptures than photographs. Her images were taken over a ten-year period during which she frequented Peking, Cantonese, and Yue opera productions, capturing many different actors in all stages of preparation for leading and supporting roles or fully dressed for the performance. Some of the remarkable characters she presents include a gorgeously costumed female warrior wearing peacock feathers in her headdress and state flags in her voluminous costume; a clown made up to look like a monkey, who, according to Buddhist legend, accompanied his master on a quest for self-knowledge; a heavily made-up male warrior wearing an intricately embroidered red coat and carved headdress; a close-up of a beautiful woman wearing an elaborate head piece adorned with flowers and jewels, indicating her high rank; and boys transforming themselves into costumed and made-up performers. Gudnason's aim is to recreate the excitement, emotion, sound, color, and movement of the actor's backstage from an insider's view. Supplementing the photographs is an insightful text by actress Gong Li as she comments on these powerful photographs and their significance. The authors provide background information about the Peking, Cantonese, and Yue opera companies, the plays, and the major character types depicted here. This unique book is ideal for collectors of exceptional photography and for anyone who loves opera, music, and theater.

Electric Charge: New Moon in Aries

A good meditation exercise for releasing fear : Close your eyes and slowly gather all the fear inside your body and put it all into one place, your solar plexus area. Then build a soft-sided container to hold all this fear, a container than can expand or contract depending on how much is inside it. Concentrate on this container and keep shooting rays or laser beams of white light at it. These beams will break the fear into very small pieces. Then hold your hands out and imagine all the tiny pieces of fear running out of your body, your finger tips, your eyes, your ears, until all the fear is gone. Keep seeing the fear release from your body until the container is empty and disappears.

For the attacks: Visualize that you are where you are and this other person is about 100 yards away from you. Then visualize a Plexiglas wall that drops between the two of you. This glass wall is about four to six inches thick and is such that anything loving can penetrate this wall easily, while negative images or thoughts cannot be heard through this wall or in any way penetrate this wall. Hold the image of this wall and I guarantee you that the angry voices and images will disappear almost immediately. This will give you real protection from angry thought forms so they cannot penetrate or lodge in your body or aura.

I thought I overpacked for her on her first day, but she ate all of it, and was ravenous when she got home. Their class got their lunch bumped back an hour after the first day, as well, so the teacher sent a note home asking us to pack them a mid-morning snack. So she'll have her yogurt with honey and berries then, and the rest for lunch. She has a thermos of goat's milk for lunch, too.

This was LUNCH #2: Sesame Chicken and Lime Pickle Onigiri, Raw Carrots/Dip, Sesame Broccoli, Almonds, Teddy Grahams, Goat's Milk.
SNACK: Yogurt/Honey/Berries.
(School's lunch today: Pizza)
