(7) The First Class Swimming Pool Area This is a view of the inner side of the entrance to the First Class Swimming Pool area. If we'd come through the main doors we would have been standing on the balcony directly across from this shot. The entire area is tiled in beautiful tile, though it was hard to see since the room was dark. The ceiling is covered in thousands of small mother-of-pearl tiles. In the light the room must have looked magnificent. For the tour, unfortunately, the light was kept low. This was supposed to make it less disturbing for the ghosts. To the left of the picture on the main level you can see some equipment. This is special effects equipment for the full ghost tour that's put on nightly for visitors to the Queen Mary during the peak season. As we were off-peak and also aboard the Q< for a conference, we were mercifully spared all the Hollywood-esque hype and just brought in to see the room. That also means the ghosts are less disturbed... whatever that might mean. Disturbed ghosts.
