BASEBOARD HEATERS COVERS - BASEBOARD HEATERS
Baseboard Heaters Covers - Kerosene Heater Ratings - Engine Block Heater Canadian Tire.
Baseboard Heaters Covers
- (Baseboard heater) As a type of heating equipment, a system in which either electric resistance coils or finned tubes carrying steam or hot water are mounted behind shallow panels along baseboards. Baseboards rely on passive convection to distribute heated air in the space.
- Put something such as a cloth or lid on top of or in front of (something) in order to protect or conceal it
- Scatter a layer of loose material over (a surface, esp. a floor), leaving it completely obscured
- (cover) screen: a covering that serves to conceal or shelter something; "a screen of trees afforded privacy"; "under cover of darkness"; "the brush provided a covert for game"; "the simplest concealment is to match perfectly the color of the background"
- Envelop in a layer of something, esp. dirt
- (cover) provide with a covering or cause to be covered; "cover her face with a handkerchief"; "cover the child with a blanket"; "cover the grave with flowers"
- (cover) blanket: bedding that keeps a person warm in bed; "he pulled the covers over his head and went to sleep"

That's where the sink is going. I *believe* that box on the floor is where the toekick heater will be. They ripped out maybe 15' of baseboard heating on that side of the room, and will replace it with this little thing. However, they also replaced the old insulation (R4 on a good day) with new R13. The walls will also be covered in cabinetry. We'll also cook in there. A lot.
New Office 683
I re-used the crown molding from the carport, and left some of the rough trim that was also part of it. It blends well with the stained baseboards and stone.
I plan to make wooden boxes to cover the white baseboard heaters. They will have metal inside to direct the heat, and vents to let cool air in and hot air out, plus a door to open to set the temperature.

SHORTWAVE INFRARED HEATER. SHORTWAVE INFRARED
Shortwave infrared heater. Industrial space heater.
Shortwave Infrared Heater
- An infrared heater is a body with a higher temperature which transfers energy to a body with a lower temperature through electromagnetic radiation. Depending on the temperature of the emitting body, the wavelength of the infrared radiation ranges from 780 nm to 1 mm.
- An infrared or radiant furnace is one that uses infrared lamps, electric heating elements, flames, or radiant tubes to heat the product. Although the heaters may also heat the furnace gasses, the primary heat source is radiant heating. See Infrared Heaters below.
- A source of heat-producing wavelengths, longer than visible light, which do not heat the air through which they pass, but only those objects in the line of sight.
- A radio wave of a wavelength between about 10 and 100 m (and a frequency of about 3 to 30 MHz)
- A shortwave or shortwave trough is an embedded kink in the trough / ridge pattern. This is the opposite of longwaves, which are responsible for synoptic scale systems, although shortwaves may be contained within or found ahead of longwaves and range from the mesocale to the synoptic scale.
- Broadcasting using radio waves of this wavelength
- when referring to broadcasting, includes frequencies ranging from 1.7 to 30 MHz (1700 - 30,000 kHz), but sometimes refers also to the HF frequency spectrum from 3 to 30 MHz
- when referring to the infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, shortwave is the region below about 5 um.
Shortwave
Antique tube radio with shortwave band. With the right antenna you could listen to broadcasts all over the world. Reaching out... old school.

Meal, Rejected By Everyone
DS582 Illustrate heat in one of its many forms in a photograph today.
A well-meaning but clueless friend gave me these MRE heaters (Army issue, MRE purportedly stands for "Meal, Ready-to-eat" but in the vernacular is translated as "Meal, Rejected-by-everyone"). She intended for me to carry them backpacking, not considering the fact that the expended packets would be litter which needed to be packed out from camp. Since I have a nice and very portable GAZ Bluet stove, the MRE heaters remain in the cupboard, unused.
The billy, however, is another story. I've cooked a lot of meals in that little pan, used it not only for food prep but as a sink and/or a washbasin for my scruffy, smelly self. It is a multi-purpose item, as all backpacking equipment should be in order to minimize weight and space. After all, if I'm lugging too much gear, I won't be able to take a camera!
As always, I ask that you please refrain from posting graphics in your comments. Thanks.

VIDEO - "Virgin Mobile" SUCKS!, Phone Shuts-Off Automatically - Oct, 2011
"I have been a Virgin customer for the last 4 years, I have the "pay as you go " monthly plan. For the last 3 months at the end of my billing cycle Virgin's system sends a signal that causes my phone to turn itself off after approx. 10 seconds - yes, the phone shuts itself OFF, this only happens after the last day of the billing cycle. Virgin got my phone working after several days for the last 2 months, but the problem keeps recuring- and when the phone keeps shutting itself off I also don't have access to 911 emergency service. Please help."
This the part of the complaint I sent to the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), the govt body that regulates telephones.
For the last 3 months my damn phone turns itself "OFF" after the last day of the billing cycle even though I still have extra money in my "account".
It is ILLEGAL for anyone not to be able to use ANY cell phone to access 911 emergency service in the United States- even if the account is out of money, shut-off, or completely canceled. So, if your phone isn't working at all and you can't even dial 911 use this form and the FCC WILL get on the phone companies ass!
If anybody else out there is having a problem with their phone the FCC has a very easy to fill-out form on the net. Here is the link.
esupport.fcc.gov/ccmsforms/form2000.action?form_type=2000D
Update: On 10-10-2011 my phone turned itself on and began working. I called Virgin to talk to a supervisor to see if/how Virgin would compensate me for all of the problems I've been having for the last 3 months.
"Tony" told me "I don't see why you need to speak to a supervisor", when I mentioned that I had filed a formal complaint with the FCC "Tony" decided to transfer me to a supervisor. Apparently even in India they know about the American FCC!
After being on hold and having to listen to the complete garbage that passes for music at Virgin Atlantic for 17:36 minutes they hung-up on me.
I called back-
"Sid", informed me that all the supervisors were in a meeting today ("Tony" didn't tell me that 10 minutes earlier). "Sid" wanted me to re-tell the same story about the phone problems I've had to repeat 10 times over the last 3 months to various Virgin employees- I told him to just read it off his computer screen!
I told "Sid" #1) I wanted a free month of service for all of the inconvinience and aggravation over the last 3 months and
#2) I want the problem fixed!!!
"David" at Tech Support repeated everthing I have heard before and told me I needed a new phone. I asked him to explain how my phone was turning itself off after 10 seconds all weekend but now on Monday the phone turned itself on and is working fine. "David" from Tech Support had no clue as to why this was happening, he added some more notes for their "investigation" and promised someone would contact me within 24 hours. Another 39:14 minutes of my life.
Stay tuned.
Update # 2) 10-12-2011
24 hours later and I have not received any communication re: my problem as promised by "David" in TechSupport - Suprise!!!
20070904 - New hot water return line
View of the new hot water return line. Unfortunately, it does not work. After discussions with my plumbing adviser (Dad), we believe it is because the check valve provides enough resistance that it prevents the water from circulating. We're going to remove it and hope that works. Then we'll have to almost close the shut-off valve so that the water is allowed to circulate, but the flow is restricted enough to not allow the cold water to get drawn from the bottom of the hot water heater which was the purpose of the check valve.

Day 23 - taking on the electric company
The local electric company, the only one to choose from, tried to screw me recently.
They sent me a bill for a $480.00 deposit, claiming I'd been late paying my bill 3 times, hence the demand for a deposit.
Oh no, they were sadly mistaken. By the time I hung up the phone this afternoon, the deposit demand had been erased and they were apologizing to me for putting me through this and wasting my time.
Asshats.
I wonder how many people just pay them the money rather than fight for their rights.....not me.
Head Stong by Trapt - Lyrics
Circling your
Circling your
Circling your head contemplating everything you ever said
Now I see the truth I got a doubt
A different motive in your eyes and now I'm out
See you later
I see your fantasy you want to make it a reality paved in gold
See inside, inside of our heads, yeah
Well now that's over
I see your motives inside
decisions to hide
Chorus
Back off I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
Headstrong we're Headstrong
Back off I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
and This is not where you belong
I can't give everything away
I won't give everything away
Conclusions manifest your first impression's got to be your very best
I see your full of shit and that's alright
That's how you play I guess you get through every night
Well now that's over
I see your fantasy you want to make it a reality paved in gold
See inside, inside of our heads yeah
Well now that's over
I see your motives inside
Decisions to hide
Chorus
Back off I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
Headstrong we're Headstrong
Back off I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
and This is not where you belong
I won't give everything away
I know I know all about
I know I know all about
I know I know all about
I know I know all about your motives inside and your decision to hide
Chorus
Back off I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
Headstrong we're Headstrong
Back off I'll take you on
Headstrong to take on anyone
I know that you are wrong
