Sears C-128 Super Eight Movie Camera

Manufactured around 1975(?) for Sears, Roebuck and Co. of Chicago, Illinois. Model 459.91281, a type of “moden” Super8 movie camera of that day. It used a standard Super8 movie cartridge, had an automatic shutter (powered by a PX13 battery) and a battery driven (and constant speed of 18 fps) film advance motor (powered by two AA batteries in the handle). It featured an fixed focus lens with an amazing 2:1 zoom! To it’s credit, the optical viewfinder zoomed with the lens. A tungsten filter was automatically engaged when a movie light was attached to the socket on the top of the camera. No collection is complete without a “Sears” camera or two…

Joy is our True Nature

Joy is our True Nature

“A state of permanent joy, hidden at the very center of consciousness, is the Eden to which the long journey of spiritual seeking leads. There, the mystics of all religions agree, we uncover our original goodness. We don’t have to buy it, we don’t have to create it; we don’t have to pour it in; we don’t even have to be worthy of it. This native core is the essential core of human nature.

We are made, the scriptures of all religions assure us, in the image of God. Nothing can change our original goodness. Whatever mistakes we have made in the past, whatever problems we may have in the present, in every one of us the uncreated spark in the soul remains untouched, ever pure, ever perfect. Even if we try with all our might to douse or hide it, it is always ready to set our personality ablaze with light.”—Eknath Easwaran, p. 260, “Words to Live By”, Nilgiri Press

king trumpet parts - Essential Purcell

Essential Purcell

Essential Purcell

No Description Available.
Genre: Classical Music
Media Format: Compact Disk
Rating:
Release Date: 22-APR-1997

The "Essential" Purcell? Well, you could get a bunch of critics to argue about that for a few days, but in the meantime, here is a sampler of highlights from the King's Consort's three admirable Purcell series: the Complete Odes and Welcome Songs, Complete Anthems and Services, and Complete Secular Solo Songs. There are, of course, some of Purcell's most-performed pieces (which probably are "essential"): Dido's Lament from Dido and Aeneas, "Sound the trumpet" from Come, ye sons of Art, Rejoice in the Lord alway (the "Bell Anthem," named for the string figure at the opening that sounds like pealing bells), the gently patriotic "Fairest isle, all isles excelling" (sung by a miscast James Bowman), and a selection from the funeral music for Queen Mary. There are also some delightful surprises--particularly among the little-known secular songs and church music. The plaintive "O fair Cedaria" gets a lovely performance by Barbara Bonney (a singer not usually associated with Purcell); tenor Rogers Covey-Crump (possibly the ideal high tenor for Purcell) sings the enchanting "If music be the food of love"; the church anthems "Let mine eyes run down with tears" and "Remember not, O Lord, our offences" have some startling harmonies as daring as any Monteverdi ever wrote. If you're unfamiliar with Purcell, this reasonably priced disc is a good place to start exploring without a big initial investment. --Matthew Westphal

Königssee "King's Lake"

Königssee

The Konigssee is a lake located in the extreme southeast Berchtesgadener Land district of the German state of Bavaria, near the border with Austria. Large parts are comprised by the Berchtesgaden National Park.

Lying within the Berchtesgaden Alps in the municipality of Schonau am Konigsee, just south of Berchtesgaden and the Austrian City of Salzburg, the Konigssee is Germany's third deepest lake. Located at a Jurassic rift it was formed by glaciers during the last ice age. It stretches about 7.7 km (5 mi) in the north-south direction and is about 1.7 km (1 mi) across at its widest point. Except at its outlet, the Konigsseer Ache at the village of Konigssee, the lake similar to a fjord is surrounded by steeply rising flanks of mountains up to 2700 m (8900 ft), including the fabled Watzmann massif in the west.

The literal translation appears to be "King's Lake", however while German: Konig does indeed mean "king", there had been no Bavarian kings since the days of Louis the German until Elector Maximilian I Joseph assumed the royal title in 1806. Therefore the name more probably stems from the first name Kuno of local nobles, who appear in several historical sources referring to the donation of the Berchtesgaden Provostry in the 12th century; the lake was formerly called Kunigsee.[1]

In 1944 a subcamp of the Dachau concentration camp was located nearby where Heinrich Himmler had a residence built at Schonau for his mistress Hedwig Potthast.[2]

The lake is noted for its clear water and is advertised as the cleanest lake in Germany. For this reason, only electric driven passenger ships, rowing and pedal boats have been permitted on the lake since 1909. Due to its picturesque setting, the lake and surrounding parklands are very popular with tourists and hikers. In addition, the lake's position surrounded by sheer rock walls creates an echo, which is known for its clarity. On boat tours, it has become traditional to stop and play a flugelhorn or trumpet to display the echo; formerly demonstrated by shooting a cannon, it could be heard reflected up to seven times.

Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, y Ecuador.

Seat A 101. As in: front row, center. How that worked out, I'm not sure, I just went to a TM outlet one day and bought a couple tickets. Great show. Victor's new toy at that time was a MIDI breath-controller headset, so he could select a bari sax patch on his bass to MIDI converter, and play a reasonably believable bass/sax duet.

The band all hung out at the front of the stage after the show, signing autographs and talking to fans. They are one of the nicest bands on the planet.

lego

Have to admit lego is a whole family play activity at our place.

We're moving on from insane trucks. New favorite thing to build is mock musical instruments.

Guitars, ukeleles, mandolins, banjos, saxophones, clarinets, violin and bow.

Have to be careful playing them as they do tend to fall apart.

Wyatt kept calling a straw he was playing (pretending it was an instrument) a tuba but I told him it looked more like a clarinet. So I had to get mine out and prove it. He was humming as he pretended to play. And he said it was "LOUD" when Momma played.

Sax @ Night

His despair, and lonliness echoed through the night. My troubles suddenly seemed minor, petty things.

"Do you do requests?", I asked.

"No," he said. "Do you?"

I thought this over for a moment, then said, "Yes, but, only the ones that put a smile on my face".

"Asshole", he muttered as I walked away into the night.

And the moon was as round as a banjo... 76/365

And the moon was as round as a banjo... 76/365

Banjo Moon - Greg Brown

There was someone that I used to know
she was a personal friend of mine
we were lovers long ago
back in the traveling times
and I happened to pass through her town
I thought I'd call her on the phone
so we could talk about what we'd found
she said, hey, please just leave me alone

Oh, and I
I don't know
everywhere I go
sorrow is as thin as an electric mandolin and the moon is as round as a banjo

I guess he took it pretty hard
he just kept drinking all through the night
we walked along by the old church yard
in the bloodshot morning light
He said, "I was always afraid she'd go away
I've been expecting it for years"
and as I looked at the cold blue bay
it looked like my friend's eyes all full of tears

Oh, and I
I don't know
everywhere I go
sorrow is as thin as an electric mandolin and the moon is as round as a banjo

Oh, grandmother has seen such grief
that when she laughs we all go crazy
she says that it is her belief
that us youngsters get too lazy
we give up on love so fast
and we scatter out so wide and so far
we dream of no future and we love no past
grandma don't know where all her great grandchildren are

Oh, and I
I don't know
everywhere I go
sorrow is as thin as an electric mandolin
and the moon is as round as a banjo

There's so many of my friends
and I bet there's some of yours too
who find themselves at such loose ends
all grown up and nothing to do
just trying to make a little dough
and help eachother through the dark
I hope they find a way to go
I pray they will not lose their spark

Oh, and I
I don't know
everywhere I go
sorrow is as thin as an electric mandolin
and the moon is as round as a banjo

I'd like to meet you someplace
besides a tavern or a station
where we could look at eachother's face
in a little better situation
we could have some supper and a talk
play that music that we love
and we could take a country walk
under the holy stars above

Oh, and I
I don't know
everywhere I go
sorrow is as thin as an electric mandolin
and the moon is as round as a banjo

VITO 7214 CLARINET. 7214 CLARINET

Vito 7214 Clarinet

vito 7214 clarinet

    clarinet

  • An organ stop with a tone resembling that of a clarinet

  • (clarinetist) a musician who plays the clarinet

  • The clarinet is a musical instrument that is a part of the woodwind family. The name derives from adding the suffix -et (meaning little) to the Italian word clarino (meaning a type of trumpet), as the first clarinets had a strident tone similar to that of a trumpet.

  • Vito is a brand name of Leblanc which was started in 1951.

  • Vito Joseph LoGrasso (born June 18, 1969) is an American professional wrestler, of Italian origin, best known for his work in World Championship Wrestling as Big Vito and more recently World Wrestling Entertainment and working for their "developmental territories" Ohio Valley Wrestling and Deep

Vito

Vito

Vito is an Italian man who definitely oozes masculinity despite all the make up he wears. He loves some cheap red wine, and is generally mostly asexual but there are exceptions. All his friends are girls and drag queens. Often tipsy, but will own any cat fight, and wears too much cologne. He loves huge sunglasses, oversized hats, laying around at the beach in speedos, and red grapes.

Vito the Victorious

Vito the Victorious

This is Vito. He's worked for me for a few years and will graduate this year. He finished his thesis yesterday and this morning, got up and put on this outfit of victory.

The truck behind him has a bed full of snow. Every year they drive up to Mt. Hood and bring back a bunch of snow for a snowball fight.

VIOLIN SHAPED BASS : VIOLIN SHAPED

VIOLIN SHAPED BASS : INSTRUMENTS OF ROCK MUSIC

Violin Shaped Bass

    violin
  • Violin was the first album released by violinst Vanessa-Mae. It was recorded in October 1990, near her 12th birthday, and released shortly afterwards in March 1991. Vanessa-Mae contributed her royalties from the album to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.

  • A stringed musical instrument of treble pitch, played with a horsehair bow. The classical European violin was developed in the 16th century. It has four strings and a body of characteristic rounded shape, narrowed at the middle and with two f-shaped sound holes

  • bowed stringed instrument that is the highest member of the violin family; this instrument has four strings and a hollow body and an unfretted fingerboard and is played with a bow

  • (violinist) a musician who plays the violin

IMGP0787Fade

IMGP0787Fade

A ca. 1983 3/4-sized student violin, made in Hungary. Not really an extraordinary instrument at all, except that it does show some indication of faded color change over the past 27 years.

The yellow highlights and the reddish edges are probably part of the original antiquing scheme. What I thought was interesting was the footprints of the bridge, part of the varnish that was hidden from light. To a lesser extent, you can see the "shadow" of the tailpiece and some of the chinrest, on the bass, or left, side of the tailpiece. Most likely, this fiddle was far redder when it was new.

The Bass Bar

The Bass Bar

The shape is refined with a knife and small planes. I know how much wood to remove by holding the belly loosely with two fingers and tapping the plate with my finger. I shave the wood until I get a pitch of F# ( the initial pitch of the table before the f-holes were cut) which usually gets good results in the final tone of the violin. The pitch is relative to the stiffness/flexability of the belly.

Removing wood from the center of the bar lowers the pitch. Simple physics- the larger the bar, the stiffer the table. The stiffer the table, the higher the pitch of the tap tone.
