Heating up the metal
I got lucky and found a heating gun in A's garage. She thinks her dad left it there when he was in town helping her paint the garage. It really got the metal quite hot and helped a lot with the flattening and folding.

Power rack & pinion
I had to modify the Jeep Cherokee pressure hose to fit the Pacer rack; I cut off the o-ring end and discarded the metric fitting to install the original Pacer flare nut and double-flared the end of the Cherokee power steering hose tubing. Luckily the tubing sizes were the same. Also, the Cherokee PS pump made the right amount of pressure for the Pacer R&P to work properly. Note the eccentric washer. Front end alignment is accomplished by simply turning the bolt and washer. No shims. No leaning over the fenders.

My Work on the Isiolo Small Irrigation Schemes
I managed the small irrigation schemes in Isiolo between the year 1984 and 1985. These schemes were the Malkadaka Irrigation Scheme (40 Ha), Garfassa Irrigation Scheme(200 Ha), the Merti Irrigation Scheme(10 Ha) and the Kina Irrigation Scheme (2 ha).
In total these schemes served 1,000 farmers. We ran one water diesel pump at Malkadaka and build the main irrigation canal at Garfassa during this period,See the works-in-progress in the picture above.
I also supervised the Kina and Merti Irrigaion Schemes.
We had the best harvest the Malkadaka farmers had never seen in 5 years.
One thing I will always remember during this period was the swelling of the Uaso Nyiro river that washed away two of our irrigation pumps when the maize was beginning to tassel.
With the help of the ministry of agriculture headquarters in Nairobi I obtained a tank full of diesel and operated the remaining one pump 24/7 to ensure the crop did not dry in the field.

bad set
A gross picture. I never knew how porous my abdomen is. It's also much paler than it seems in this picture. Any little scratches you see (not many visible here) are made by my cat at work (Stinky). She loves to knead me but hates to have her claws clipped.
Anyway, I put this set in on Thursday. I first poked myself and for some reason didn't think it went in, but it had. When I pulled it out the puncture bled. I thought I stopped it and went to insert again, and realized the intial poke was still oozing. When I saw blood later on I thought it was from that first poke but it turned out the new one was oozing blood. I debated taking it out, but it didn't hurt and my BGs were fine. I left it in the full 3 days like this. My camera & photography "skills" leave much to be desired and you can't even see how bloody the whole adhesive pad was on the bottom right side (in the picture).
When I removed the set this morning I had just a small bruise and there was no swelling or tenderness. It did ooze blood for awhile and I soaked through a couple of band aids before finally putting a piece of Tegaderm over it so I could get dressed without getting my shirt all bloody.
The Omnipod
My eight year old daughter 'the future engineer' has Type-1 Diabetes and just started using the Omnipod. The system has two main components- the Insulin reservoir / pump seen above- which is coupled with a wireless controller. This particular part is disposable (recyclable now- good.) and only designed to be used for 72 hours before it is replaced. The following pictures are what we found when my daughter wanted to 'take it apart' to see how it works. Proud Dad moment #1- nobody has to suggest opening up a gadget and seeing what makes it tick to me twice. It was dissected in the kitchen moments later. This unit was one of our training devices and only pumped Saline for three days- she is on it for real as of this morning.
Another good view at the bottom of this shot you can see the cannula and also the needle that does the insertion.

Box Office Providence R.I.
This very unusual building is made up of recycled shipping containers and will become a small office building in Providence R.I.
A fantastic idea and one i hope to see more of in the future :-)
Info:
PROVIDENCE — Shipping containers, the corrugated steel boxes that are piled high on cargo ships then loaded directly onto tractor trailers, revolutionized the way goods are transported and helped make the modern, global economy possible.
But as the economy sputters, containers are piling up in ports, and there is a movement to give them a second life as apartments and offices. Here in Rhode Island, the first such project will open in the city’s West Side in March on the site of a former lumber company.
Architect and developer Peter Gill Case announced Tuesday his plan to build the Box Office, a three-story building made from 32 recycled steel shipping containers. The 10,000-square-foot building is targeted at start-up businesses and artists, with up to 12 office and studio spaces ranging from 640 square feet to 2,560 square feet.
“Buildings like this one bring new life to these iconic objects,” Case said at the morning ceremony. “My kids ask: Are those Legos? The Lego interpretation is apt. We’ve all seen these modular shapes on trucks, trains, and ships, and stacked up at urban ports as though they were already buildings … Why not reuse them?”
Box Office will be built at the junction of the city’s Olneyville and Federal Hill neighborhoods, near the intersection of Harris and Atwells avenues, which is the former site of the Harris Lumber, which after more than 100 years in operation left the city for North Kingstown in 1997 and was renamed JT’s Lumber.
Tuesday was the official “groundbreaking” and Case, his development team, and Mayor David N. Cicilline planted a single tree to symbolize the project’s commitment to environmentally sustainable, or green, design.
Next to them, three old shipping containers were stacked up, to give a sense of what the building might look like from the street. “The people that work here are not going to be thinking that they’re working in a container, but that they have this really sweet office space that happens to be made out of a shipping container,” says Case.
Case, an architect whose Truth Box Architects has designed Monohasset Mills –– an Olneyville condominium project –– and Bayley Street Lofts, in Pawtucket, says Box Office will cost $1.8 million, making it cheaper to build than new construction.
It will also be greener, using 25 percent less energy than a conventional new office building. It will have no direct use of fossil fuels, with all heating and cooling coming from small, decentralized air-to-air heat pumps. Storm water run-off will be primarily treated by using “bio-swales” or rain gardens, where storm water will be collected to feed plant life.
Additionally, Case plans to offer tenants “green leases” that will give financial incentives for maximizing energy performance.
Green building “is part of the engine that is going to power our economy forward,” said Case, who also intends to build two more “high profile” green buildings in the city in the next five years.
Tenants will pay around $1,000 for a standard 640-square-foot space, which is made out of two containers, and each unit will have ceilings about 9.6 feet high. “That’s big enough for about four desks,” says Case.
The project already has all the design and permitting requirements needed to move forward, with the exception of a city building permit, which is pending, according to Case. The next step will be razing the heavily vandalized steel and concrete warehouse that is the lone remnant from the lumber yard this summer.
Three units are already pre-leased. Case says his company –– located at the Steel Yard, another one of his projects––will take up at least one of them. Case is working with local entrepreneurs Joseph Haskett, of Distill Studio, the project architect, and Joshua Brandt of Stack Design Build, the general contractor for Box Office.
The building is a welcome addition to a blighted area and a model for the sort of green building that that Cicilline said he hopes to make Providence a national leader in. “This area has been long neglected,” said City Councilor John Lombardi, who represents Federal Hill. “What they’re looking to do is certainly something different.”
Aoi's New Fiat
Another new car Aoi bought. It's a pink Haru Motors HM Fi 50, and it's just came out recently. We came across it while browsing around the marketplace, and Aoi had to have it XD. It cost a good L$2500, but we both agree that it was more than worth the money. This cute little car runs great, has a retractable top, seats Aoi plus 3 passengers, and depending on how fast you're going gets excellent gas mileage. Yup. This care uses Haru Motors fuel system. The fast you go, the more gas the vehicle will consume. It comes with a special gas pump to refuel it once the fuel runs out. The pump has an unlimited supply of free gas for you to fill up on, and can either fill the tank 1%, 10%, or 100% full. Aoi just loves this little car, and recommends it to anyone looking for a reliable, cute car^_^.

Both front yards are uniquely different, yet are complementary to each other, and united by the dry creek bed.
