Scorpio Zodiac Astrological Sign - Handmade, Carved, Reclaimed Wood
Scorpio is the 8th astrological sign in the Zodiac. Ruled by the planet Pluto...
Wait. Didn't "they" just say that Pluto is no longer considered a planet? So, who rules Scorpio then?
I have no idea, but considering I am a Scorpio, I say, Pluto will always be my planet, with Mars as co-ruler.
It's okay Pluto, this Scorpio still believes in you. I'm sure there are others who do, too.
Or am I a Scorpion? -an?
Hm.
This plaque measures approximately 4 3/4" tall, 5 1/2" wide, and 1/2" deep, and is made out of reclaimed MDF. It was then painted with gold for the symbol, black for the front face, and white on the side and back.
Oh, and there is primer underneath it all. That way the paint will sit tight.
Made complete with a hanger on the back - all ready to go!
Herons In Flight -Wood Shadowbox, Detail
Alexandria Bay, New York c.1895...the scene depicted in this work.
As aforementioned, everything is carved in wood and the foliage has been cleverly made of wood chips. The water has been delicately carved to present a 'flowing' effect of river movement as can be seen with the soft ripples around the canoe.
What makes the shadowbox extraordinary is the glass that protects it. Light passes through the glass to highlight the subjects/items and give beautiful reflection to the water. It forces the viewer to stand and gaze at the effect, but it does something to the spirit that I can't describe.
I smile when my clients say they're "at awe."
