Monday, April 18th

Well, let me catch you up. Hi. I'm Steve. Remember me? About two weeks ago my life got a combination of busy, traumatic, and distracting. So here I am May 4th, finally beginning to catch up on my Picture of the Day posts. And what an eventfull two weeks it has been! I have gotten so much closer to so many friends, I've brought all my grades up and am looking forward to much better grades at the end of the quarter, and I've been photographing. A lot. Left and right actually. I think I've improved even more. In other news, I no longer have a car, I have a new pair of sunglasses, and I now consider 20 mile bike rides "leisure" - anyway, I hope you enjoy as I finally catch up on these last two weeks, and launch forth into the last half of my last Quarter of Freshman year continuously catologuing my various affars and exploits!

I shall do my best in these two weeks of pictures ahead to describe the events of that day. Some will be more vivid and eventful than others, particularly this one actually. But yeah, if some are detail-less, please forgive my lack of clear memory, and know that it is safe to assume it was a good day, just...average.

Anyway, here we are.

Day 107 - Sunday, April 17th.

This morning I woke up about an hour earlier than expected to the sultry sounds of my phone ringtone. It was jeremy, calling to inform me that it was time to go. Earlier that week I had proposed that we take my car to the Equestrian event he wanted to shoot that weekend, and he had wholeheartedly and excitedly agreed. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to tell him that yesterday, saturday, I ran into a far-deeper-than-it-looked (curse you georgia rain!) puddle and flooded my engine, and that my car would be in the shop till that afternoon. Well of course I really didn't want to end his day right then and there and go back on my word and miss an opportunity to do a photoshoot all at once, so I went on a valliant text messageventure to find a person who had both a car and the willingness to drive us, and was awake at 7AM. There was one. So promptly at 7:30 we arrived at the EXTREMELY NICE SCAD Equestrian center, which we were happy to learn was donated (because, I swear, if they built something that nice, I would know immediately why my tuition is so ridiculous). We were enthralled with the beauty of the low light and the sunrise gleaming off various horses' eyes and so we went to work. The day was spent around the stables and at the jumping tracks where we shot thousands of photographs each, and we took breaks along the way to enjoy some crepes served by the on-duty crepe cart that is apparently a regular at SCAD Equestrian events. Delicious crepes. I had a peanut butter & Banana & Nutella crepe to start, and then a bacon, avacado, sour cream, and tomato one later that day. Both were interesting and quite delicious. As noon came around and the awards started, our picture opportunities dwindled both due to quality of light and availability of running horses to shoot, so we called Casey, another friend to come pick us up. Along the way back she also agreed to take us back to pep boys for me to pick up my now-restored car! Unfortunately about a block after hearing pep boys tell me it was drivable, and taking it up abercorn, jeremy and I heard a big BAM noise and suddenly oil spewed forth onto the road along with various shards of metal and plastic. I pulled into a parking lot and turned off the engine. Had it towed back to pep boys, and basically the day was taken up with maintainance and frustration. In the end I learned that somehow the water misaligned (?) my engine such that something blew through the engine itself, rendering my car unusable until further notice.
