First off, my apologies to Samuel Clemens for intentionally misquoting him but I think he'd be OK with it. ;)

As many of you know, my wife and have recently relocated to Malta. Since our arrival, we've been living in a resort hotel while searching for a home. We generally prefer our own products and typically only use hotel products if we run out of our prefered goops. We've used barely anything from the hotel but the housekeeping people continue to leave two or three new bottles every few days. We leave the growing shelf full of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. in plain sight yet more continue to show up. I guess I can always sell them on eBay...

So, about those lies I mentioned, I believe it was Elizabeth who tagged me recently for this bunch of personal facts and a lie thing. I've been putting it off until I had time to sit down and work on it and decided today was the day; so, here goes...

Nine of these things are true, one is a half truth and one is a complete lie. See if you can guess which two are the lies. The reveal will take place in my post tomorrow.


1. In the past eight years, I have lived in five countries on three continents.

2. In my teens, I once did a full somersault on a dirt bike.

3. I had such a sterling reputation as a model child that a classmate once got detention for lying when he tried to rat me out about some misgiving I allegedly perpetrated.

4. I've taken a train to the Arctic Circle to visit Santa Claus.

5. At the age of 14, a friend and I were knocked unconscious for several minutes as the result of an explosion.

6. Three years ago, I was medivac'd to a hospital in Singapore with a life-threatening condition.

7. My great-grandfather was sold to a traveling circus by his adopted parents.

8. In college, I did a summer internship at Lucasfilm's Skywalker Ranch transferring audio files to DAT.

9. When I talked to my wife's father about asking for her hand, he said, "Yeah. Well, it's about time."

10. In Switzerland, I talked my way out traffic ticket in perfect German.

11. In high school, I won an award and got to be "Superintendent of Schools for a Day" for winning the Elk's Club Essay Contest... two years in a row... with basically the same essay.
