BACK UP GENERATOR FOR SUMP PUMP

(same title as Michael Kent's 2nd novel, the 1st being of course The Big Jiggety). In the mod-afternoon September Polish sun.

Though I am in some ways flattered (and impressed by the person who tagged me) I find the tagging exercise somewhat contrived, but here goes:
1-Much of the time I prefer to be alone, much of contemporary society leaves me scratching my head (details available upon request)
2-Music to me died in the mid 1970s, but a lot had already been composed so I am not running dry in that area. Liking the latest thing is not a sign of depth. Although I do hear a contemporary song now and then that I like, but I can't buy everything, can I now?
3-I like certain people but not crowds; for one they are impractical, noisy, etc.
4-I am not politically correct, although I realize the relativity of that term.
5-I loathe kitsch, but that is also relative. Some call Moscow's Seven Sisters (skyacrapers) kitsch, but I sort of like them, especially now that they are aging.
6-One good thing about democracy is that technically you are allowed to criticize but there is peer pressure to be positive and thus not criticize. This applies more to one side of the Atlantic than the other.
7-Children, whom I do like in general, are sadly spoiled by too many rights and not enough sense of duty in many western societies.
8-TV rots the brain, but I do like to watch certain programs with Arminee.
9-I am passionate about the environment and hope that things will improve, though overpopulation is one of the greatest challenges confronting the planet
10-I love older pre-World War II buildings but I am encouraged by the emergence of more nergy-efficient structures.
11-Since I do sing, play guitar, piano and drums I wish there were at least three more of me so I can get a band togther like the Beatles, the Who, the Kinks or Creedence Clearwater Revival to play their songs and mine the way I really want them played. I have many studio-recordings emulating that format but of course nothing live. I used to enjoy playing music with my brother but he is now overseas with his own band. Perhaps he is concerned about the sibling rivalry experienced by the Fogerty bothers of CCR or the Kinks.
12-I adore beauty in all its forms from cars to beautiful women, though not the skeletons that parade down catwalks to show off new styles or the stuff of tabloids.
13-I am a jack of all trades: I mentioned music but I of course take photographs and paint, I also write (please buy my book The Big Jiggety, some Flickerites amongs others, appear to have enjoyed it (again thank you Ann G. in particular for your balm-like understanding of it).
14-Pathologically lazy describes me at times, though I tend to make up for it now and again.
15-I miss my mother awfully. She departed in early 2003.
16-My father was a wonderul man but moody. He wrote and painted very well.

Five pumping appliances, an aerial ladder platform and an operational support vehicle are in attendance at a fire inside a indoor-market building.

The building, measuring 40 metres by 20 metres is completely smoke-logged. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have located the area involved in fire and efforts are being made to extinguish.

Two further fire appliances have now been requested as the fire situation has worsened.

Further information will be posted, as and when it becomes available.

Fire crews are attending from Camborne, Penzance, Redruth, St Ives, Helston and specialist units from Truro and Falmouth.

Update 1115hrs: Firefighters have worked hard in difficult conditions and are making good progress. A total of 24 breathing appratus sets have been used along with two jets, two hosereels and thermal imaging cameras.

Update 1345hrs: The fire has now been declared under control. A total of 30 breathing apparatus sets were used. Positive pressure ventilation fans are being used to clear the smoke from the building. A fire investigation has commenced, although the fire is not believed to be suspicious.

Update 1520hrs: The fire investigation team have been unable to rule out arson, so the police have been requested to return to the scene.
