Kroger 1980-2000 (Rocky Mount)
Kroger relocated from a shopping center on South Main Street to this location on Tanyard Road in 1980 in the Rocky Mount Shoppers World. This is an early example of the "Greenhouse" format, and is one of only a few dozen Krogers built in this style before evolving the concept to the more familiar Greenhouse look.
Kroger relocated to the Rocky Mount Marketplace in 2000, leaving this store vacant for a few years before the Eagle Cinema 5 moved in around 2006. When the cinema moved in, the shopping center's name changed to Eagle Plaza.

This corner of the old Kroger store once had no windows, on either side. The end of the food store was here, and a non-windowed part of the store's front, was the right edge of picture.
Beauty Brands "Front" side is the former "End" of the Kroger store. Kroger was perpendicular to the street. Beauty Brands faces the street.
Note the blackish brick. Basically this wall had no windows until Beauty Brands put some there.
See familiar Kroger groove, or stripe, in the brick, at left hand edge of pic.
